Veterinary receptionist/assistant/technician

Small animal clinic specializing in ultrasound in Grover Beach is seeking a veterinary assistant or technician with experience in the veterinary field and reception experience or ability to incorporate receptionist duties.

The position offered is part time or full time Monday-Friday, weekends off.

A self motivated, proficient individual, with strong communication skills is desired. Position includes extensive client interaction, so strong social skills and ability to communicate with clients by phone and in person is expected. Applicant must enjoy working with pets and their people. Familiarity with sedative and anesthetic monitoring is a plus.

Applicant will need to possess the following skills:

Medical: Proper patient restraint and handling, this is an imperative skill and necessary for the position. Collecting vitals and preparing patients for their treatments and procedures. Familiarity with injectable medications and sedatives is a plus. Preparing and administering injectable medications. Monitoring patients under sedation.

Office: Basic computer skills and medical record keeping. Scanning, faxing, and emailing reports, preparing documents for scheduled patients.

Client Interaction: Scheduling appointments, collecting payments and processing transactions by all methods.

Cleaning: Keeping the hospital clean and sanitary, cleaning, stocking, and organizing. Willingness to participate in daily office/hospital cleaning duties. Monthly hospital checklists. Daily opening and closing procedures.

This is a small staff desiring a person with a good sense of humor, warm social attributes, and a great work ethic to join our team. The environment is relaxed and fun but can get quite busy. Applicant should be prepared to learn additional skills, managed assigned tasks, and assist the veterinarian and staff.
