VP Software Engineering and Architecture MGM has an exciting opportunity for a talented individual to become the Vice President of Software Engineering for MGM Media Technology Group (MTG) based in Culver City CA. MTG supports enterprise solutions to manage content, rights, media assets, sales and marketing, distribution, consumer products, B2B and B2C, data analytics, finance and accounting across the MGM Studios portfolio of theatrical, TV episodic, linear and digital properties and businesses. We are seeking an experienced and seasoned Software Engineer Leader who will be responsible for both hands-on development as well as manage a team of full stack developers and overseeing and driving large complex technical applications and initiatives. The candidate will also lead and consult on the architecture, design, development and implementation of multiple software development projects of various sizes & complexity. The candidate will have a proven ability to work within a team to help drive technical projects in an onsite/offshore delivery model in a fast-paced environment. The Vice President of Software Engineering will manage technology strategy, development, process methodology, software architecture, day to day product development and support, long range initiatives planning, collaboration with crossfunctional business leaders, product managers and partners, and management of a dynamic software engineering team providing "Leading Class" support for MGM. Responsibilities:
- Team Leadership
- Focus on building a strong engineering team, with a healthy mix of managerial support, solution architects, strategy, and innovative software engineering Coach, train and grow the software engineers in terms of skill set, methodology and solution delivery approach
- Provide regular employee feedback and performance reviews
- Develop partnerships across development engineering teams with cross-facility / crossvendor support and engagement
- Manage the operational and capital budget for your team and clients.
- Agile Methodology and Automation
- Manage rigorous process and control of all development, QA, product release, DevOps, and cloud infrastructure using agile methodology
- Work with product manager, project manager and software engineers to conduct daily stand-ups, scrum sessions, sprint grooming sessions, and quarterly roadmap planning
- Translate business requirements and user stories into technical design; lead the team to break down user stories into tasks and provide estimate
- Assign internal and external resources to projects and tasks
- Ensure development velocity and quality
- Manage tracking tools such as JIRA, Jenkins, Github and traditional development toolsets
- Manage resources into automation of the development process using CI/CD pipelines and quality automation.
- Capital Projects and Strategy
- Collaborate with MTG leadership and operational clients to develop both short- and long-range strategic technology planning
- Balance local project initiative needs with MTG -driven enterprise initiatives and endeavor to align strategies and develop synergies across all MGM properties
- Present and defend capital budget plans to senior leadership
- Develop conceptual designs and technology architecture vision, assign project work to team members with clear direction
- Manage on-going projects, including budgets, timelines, design and integration, data migration, application commissioning and training. Maintain application documentation
- Product delivery and support
- Manage product solution design, implementation, integration, QA, data migration and system roll out
- Lead decision making on system architecture, integration, technology stack and data structure design
- Work closely with operations product teams, clients and executive management both formally and informally
- Track development timelines, manage milestones, priorities and schedules, and set client expectations
- Manage external vendors and/or 3rd party contractors for on-time delivery
- Take a responsible leadership role for all projects and act as the owner and driver of technology implementation and software soluton delivery
- Capture technical requirements, provide solutions and ensure resources are available to hit required timelines.
- 7+ years of recent experience managing software engineering team and end-to-end software solution delivery
- 5+ years of people management experience, including performance evaluation, hiring and disciplinary action nical environment Embrace your role as the ultimate responsible party and senior subject matter expert for technology
- Bachelor's Degree (Master's and above preferred) from an accredited institution in
- Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology or equivalent fields Experience working in the Media and Entertainment/Studios industry is highly preferred,
- with a focus on leading the development of supply chain solutions around rights and contract management, avails calculation, and content management and delivery
- Technology Expertise And Ownership
- Demonstrate a high level of expertise with a broad range of technologies. Good exposure to latest Software Development languages with demonstrated abilities across
- the entire SDLC, including planning, analysis, design, development, and assisting in user testing and training activities
- Have good understanding of the three major cloud vendors (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform)
- Have good understanding of media network, media standards, codec's and file formats (SD, HD, 4K, UHD)
- Train the team to be familiar with test automation and tools
- Grow with the industry, adapting to new technologies as they develop
- Demonstrate a dedication to building and maintaining a stable, high-performance tech
