Peter’s Place Nursery School is a non-profit preschool dedicated to creating a stimulating and safe play-based environment, with an emphasis on the social and emotional development of young children.
Established in 1974, Peter’s Place Nursery School is a highly-esteemed part-time program located in the Inner Richmond District of San Francisco. We stand for practice based on recognition of each child’s unique self, a commitment to supporting children’s construction of learning, and an emphasis on child, family and teacher partnership.
Job Description and Responsibilities:
We are currently seeking a highly qualified and experienced teacher who can support holistic development, learning and well-being. They are able to work as a team member, demonstrate a thorough comprehension of developmentally-appropriate practices and integrate their ECE knowledge within a unique approach to emergent curriculum.
Responsibilities for this position include:
Planning and implementing the program for children in accordance with the policies, mission statement and philosophy of the school
Guiding the development of each child with a fidelity to their individual strengths, style, interests, pace and challenges
Creating and maintaining the ordered arrangement, appearance, decor, and learning environment of the classroom
Facilitating professional and respectful communication with families through newsletters, daily descriptions of classroom activities, parent-teacher conferences and parent education programs
Participation in staff and parent/teacher meetings as well as attendance at occasional extracurricular events.
Collaboration with other teachers in a team setting and creating a nurturing, interesting and engaging environment to meet the needs of children with a wide range of abilities.
Start Date: January 1, 2026
Total weekly hours: 28 (M-F), including dedicated time for teaching, planning and meeting.
Program Benefits include health, dental insurance and a retirement plan, and 3 weeks of paid vacation. Professional development funds are available for workshops and conferences. Vacation pay is calculated via a percentage of full-time pay.
Qualifications
A Minimum of 15 ECE units and 3 years’ experience preferred
Candidates with a BA degree and/or a Teacher or higher level CA Child Development will be given preference
A commitment to working with young children and developing professionally. The candidate must have excellent interpersonal, organizational and communication skills.
