Welder/Shop Employee

James Hewatt, Inc. is a Brentwood, CA based steel fabrication and welding business. Valid drivers license and clean driving record required. Experienced in welding, cutting, layout, fitting and ability to read and understand shop drawings preferred. This job requires the applicant to be capable of moving heavy objects. Must be accurate, consistent, reliable and punctual. This is a full-time, hourly position.

We are currently seeking a full-time shop employee who can work with a diversely skilled team and is also experienced enough to work independently when necessary.

Compensation:

$26-$30/hour D.O.E., overtime when necessary

Requirements:

- Experience in welding (FCAW, FCAW-S, GMAW) / fabricating

- Proficient with tooling: cold saw, band saw, Ironworker, grinding hand tools, plasma torch, oxy-acetylene torch

- Proficient in reading blueprints and detailed shop drawings, measurements and welding symbols

- Move heavy objects under 50 lbs without assistance

- Read tape measure and fractional measurements

- Experience with hand/power tools

- Experience driving fork lifts

- Able to add, subtract, multiply, divide in all units of measurement

- Experience painting (either shop primer or finish paint)
