Position Summary

Seeking a strong skilled Accounting Manager who will work independently and under the direction of the Assistant Controller. This position provides support to management and supervises staff. The candidate must have the ability to reconcile all balance sheet and income statement accounts. The candidate must have good organizational skills and be able to manage multiple projects and deadlines. The Accounting Manager must have excellent coaching skills. The candidate must be able to communicate effectively and maintain productive working relationships. The candidate will identify potential process improvements and propose solutions. The ability to think critically, analyze problem, and propose solutions is required. Must know generally accepted accounting principles and how to apply them, including ASC 606.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Oversees accounts payable cycle, and employee expense reports.
  • Review monthly credit card reconciliations.
  • Review account reconciliations prepared by Accounting staff to ensure correct financial reporting.
  • Critically evaluates accounting transactions and determines appropriate recognition under GAAP.
  • Researches and resolves complex accounting and compliance questions.
  • Reviews annual form 1099 filings.
  • Coordinates annual financial statement audit with external accounting firm
  • Independently identifies opportunities to improve company accounting practices, controls, efficiency and reporting.
  • Establishes and maintains files and transactional records to document accounting entries.
  • Functions as a backup for ASC 606 monthly revenue recognition.
  • Provides back up support to the Assistant Controller.
  • Supervises staff in Accounting department. Delegates appropriately in accordance with experience and skill set.
  • Trains, supports performance development, and provides feedback for staff.
  • Completes annual written performance evaluations of Accounting staff and quarterly performance meetings in accordance with SEAKR’s procedures.
  • Manager special projects as assigned by the Assistant Controller, Controller, CFO, and Officers on time and with high accuracy. Specifically, this includes understanding the objectives of the project, managing deadlines, efficient use of resources, and clear communication of results.

Qualifications

Position Requirements Bachelor’s degree in Accounting with at least 5 years of progressive accounting and people management experience. Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), concepts, practices, theories and procedures. Knowledge of software programs as they relate to accounting and reporting functions. Knowledge of intermediate MS Excel skills such as sorting, formatting, and inserting basic formulas. Ability to prepare financial statements in accordance with GAAP, including balance sheet, income statement, statement of cash flows and footnotes. Understanding of internal controls. Ability to think critically, analyze a problem, and propose solutions is required. The candidate must have good organization skills and be able to manage multiple projects and deadlines. Excellent communication skills and attention to details are required. Significant analytical skillset, including accounting systems, and reporting tools. Hands on experience with ERP systems. Knowledge of government contract accounting, manufacturing, and job costing is desired

Additional Information

Compensation: Base salary range is $95,000- $130,000, depending on qualifications. SEAKR has very rich medical, dental and vision insurance plans, along with a generous 401(k) retirement plan. In addition to base salary, employees are eligible for a year-end bonus. SEAKR offers a variety of paid leave, such as vacation, sick, bereavement, and FMLA. There is potential for a remote hybrid work schedule once training is complete.
