While the entire salary range is listed, new hires are appointed at $5,675/month.Description of JobThis position will provide work lead oversight of services as statutorily defined in the Specialized Program for Juveniles and Young Adults Convicted as Adults (JYACAP) and will oversee the delivery of services to students while maintaining budget fidelity. This position exists to meet and uphold the Mission, Vision and Values of the Colorado Department of Corrections and will encourage and promote self discipline, self motivation, safe and productive work habits and positive attitudes. Primary Job duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Provide work lead oversight of the facility's JYACAP program and operate as a Peer Lead;

Assist in implementing comprehensive Career and Technical Education (CTE) and Academic education plans;

Oversee incarcerated individual programming for Prison Program;

Assist in implementing of new programming and evaluate current offerings;

Provide guidance and leadership to the JYACAP staff;

Provide individual guidance and counseling to inmates through one-on-one interviews and referring students to program content;

Assist in planning course content and develop methods of instruction;

Assist in implementing policy and procedure to comply with general program guidelines;

Promote a high level of performance by setting the work standard according to agency mission, vision and values. This includes the supervision of staff who also supervise other staff and inmates;

Coordinate with credentialing officer for obtainment for credentialing and licensure for new instructors;

Assist with management of the programs operating budget;

Assist in determining the educational needs of inmate students to develop short and long term goals;

Ensure compliance with Federal and State statutes, Colorado Department of Correction's regulations, Division of Adult Parole policies and other established correctional standards for the management of offenders statewide;

Monitor trends, best practices and measurements to track and prepare data for reporting purposes;

Review all JYACAP applications to determine program eligibility as defined in Colorado Statutes.

Safety & Security - position maintains safety and security by training inmates; and occasionally or in an emergent situation perform inmate counts, searches, escorts, movement control, and inmate access to classrooms. Through conscientious observation and adherence to agency Administrative Regulations and the Code of Penal Discipline, the position promotes a safe and secure work environment.

Minimum Qualifications, Substitutions, Conditions of Employment & Appeal RightsEducation: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a field of study such as Business Administration, Business Management, Project Management, Public Administration, Economics, Education, Accounting, Finance, Criminal Justice, Telecommunications, Computer Information Systems or related field. Part-time employment is calculated on a prorated basis to determine qualifications. Preferred Qualifications:

Experience working for a Colorado State Agency performing duties specific to those listed in this job announcement;

CDE Principle license;

Successfully pass all modules of the Colorado Department of Corrections Basic Training, to include English reading comprehension, relevant competency assessments and written/practical exams in Defensive Tactics;

Possess the physical ability to successfully complete Defensive Tactics;

Lift arms above head and kick as high as own waist;

Stabilize another person to accomplish a controlled take down;

Use arms, palms of hands, shins, and feet to deliver blows;

Withstand impact (slow speed or with a safety bag) on own body from strikes/blows;

Swing a baton in a striking technique;

Rotate body 90 degrees with feet planted for striking with foot or using a defensive tactic;

Get down on one or both knees and up again with multiple repetitions;

Will be exposed to Oleoresin Capsicum during Basic Training and will be exposed while on assignment;
