Job Summary:

The Certified Invasive Cardio Technologist performs adult diagnostic and interventional cardiovascular procedures. This position functions independently as an expert technologist who is a highly competent and clinically skilled member of the Invasive Cardiology Team at Denver Health, that includes registered nurses, cardiovascular technologists, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, cardiology fellows and faculty physicians. In addition to assisting the physicians with the most complex procedures, this position oversees the technical operations required for the performance of routine diagnostics through the advanced interventional cardiovascular procedures. The Certified Invasive Cardio Technologist performs all procedures with proficiency and demonstrates technical expertise, making a significant contribution to the diagnosis and treatment of patients with cardiac dysfunction.

This Tech possesses expert clinical and technical knowledge which he/she applies to systematically and continuously collect and assess data in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team to provide therapeutic care with the patient and family. The person must demonstrate a high degree of understanding of the interpretation of cardiac arrhythmias and all invasive cardiology procedures. The individual must be competent in proper sterile technique and will assist the physician with implantation of permanent pacemakers, ICD's and BiV-ICD's. The individual must be competent in the operation and troubleshooting skills of specialty equipment and the x-ray system.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Demonstrated expertise related to Cardiovascular theory and technical skill.
  • Ability to effectively teach and precept staff in Cardiovascular theory and technical skills.
  • Effective oral and written professional communication skills.
  • Ability to demonstrate ethical and professional behavior at all times.
  • Serves as a role model to all personnel by demonstrating a high level of expertise with electrophysiology systems, including trouble-shooting skills, effective interactions with patients & staff, leadership ability and professional behavior.
Education:

  • High School Diploma or GED Certificate required.
  • Graduate of a Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (CVIS) Technologist training program required.
  • Graduate from Electrophysiology Technologist program preferred.
Experience:

  • Five years of previous Cath lab experience and/or (singular/combined) Electrophysiology Technologist work experience in a dedicated Electrophysiology Lab preferred.
  • Two years of experience as an Imaging Technologist may be considered in lieu of training program completion.
Certificates, Licenses and Registration:

  • RCIS (Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Technologist) required.
  • Imaging Technician, registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technicians (ARRT) preferred.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) American Heart Assoc. required.
