The Surgical Tech Resource works under the supervision of the surgeon and RN. While in this Surgical Tech Resource position you will also:
Assists surgical team during operative procedures by arranging and inventorying sterile set-up of instruments, equipment and supplies for surgical cases and passing items to surgeons and nurses as needed.
Assists in preparing and moving patients and sterilizing and cleaning instruments, equipment and rooms.
Coordinates functions and activities for all surgical specialties; maintains appropriate supplies, instruments, vendor needs, and physician preferences.
Covers specialty service in absence of RN specialty leader.
Assists in orienting new hires and training staff for the surgical specialties, i.e. procedures, equipment, new technology and changes in clinical practice.
Participates in strategic planning and related implementation activities.
Day to Day duties: thi srole will cover Robotics/ ONC service lines
As a Resource Surgical Tech, role model positive leadership behavior.
Liaison between OR staff and surgeons to ensure that instruments and supplies are available.
Collaborate with Clinical Coordinators, Sterile Processing Department, and Supply to order supplies and instruments.
Act as a mentor and preceptor for new staff members.
Scrub on all cases. Primarily; GEN, Ortho (Trauma) Neuro, Spine, ENT, Eyes, GU, Robotics, Vascular, Endovascular, Cardiac, Trauma, GYN.
Giving breaks and/or providing additional supplies and sterile instruments as needed during operations.
Assisting with Room turnover and restocking for next day’s cases.
Maintaining Sterile field during procedures.
Handing instruments to surgeons, anticipating surgeons needs.
Maintaining and updating preference cards.
17 OR Suites.Approx. 450-500 cases per monthSchedule:40 hrs/week- Variable per surgical volume and current unit needsCall Required: approx. 4 call shifts in 6 week schedule block. Typically no weekend call unless covering team members PTO.30 minute callback radius requiredQualifications:In addition to bringing your whole self to the workplace each day, qualified candidates will need the following:
Two years of surgical tech experience
Experience in a specialty field preferred
Computer skills required
Previous Robotics and Oncology experience required
HS/GED required
Completion of an approved Surgical Technician program
Current registration with the Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies (DORA) as a surgical technologist for associates working in Colorado. A person performing Surgical Tech functions within the scope of another Colorado license, certification, or registration does not need to register as a Surgical Tech
Certification in Surgical Technology from the National Board Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) or Certification as a Tech in Surgery from the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT)

We are unique in the community because have a designated trauma room that is at the ready 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The trauma room (T-10) allows for the facility to triage any patient meeting specific criteria in an operating room, bypassing the ED, and has a designated response team of approximately eight different units with unique roles during a trauma team activation allowing prompt immediate surgical intervention within minutes of arrival by our partners in EMS and Flight for Life.The surgical unit itself has 17 rooms including the trauma room, a hybrid room, designated cardiac OR and a Cystoscopy room. We have two DaVinci Xi Robotic systems allowing us to provide robotically assisted procedures in general, urology, gynecology and thoracic specialties. Currently there are 17 different specialties provided here at SAH including trauma, neuro, ortho, general, cardiac, vascular, ENT, plastics, urology, GYN, thoracic, and more. Our caseload for 2019 was 5,859 procedures in this unit alone. We have one specialized team for cardiac, all other employees are cross-trained for all remaining specialties allowing for increased knowledge base of surgical procedures, skill level and ability to cover any patient care needs.We offer various shifts and schedule opportunities so associates can maintain a positive work-life balance.
