CNC Programmer

Location: Fort Collins, CO. Salary: $65k - $72k/ Year DOE The

CNC Programmer position creates and maintains programs for CNC machines and maintains all programming files and file structures as defined by their superiors. Programming personnel are responsible and accountable to create programs that are effective in producing conforming products manufactured by CNC machines. The CNC Programmer should be familiar with FANUC based G-codes and should be able to perform NC program editing. SECONDARY: Work with interdepartmental team members to promote and sustain a positive work environment of continuous improvement of programs and processes. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: The following education and experience qualifications are the minimum required for the position of CNC Programmer: • 3-5 years of CNC machining experience related to Titanium, Aluminum, and Stainless steel or Aerospace grade exotic metals. • Proven history of creating effective support documentation • Effective oral and written communication skills • Knowledge and technical understanding of aerospace manufacturing processes, components and design techniques related to using CAD/CAM software. • Proficient using Microsoft Office software (Outlook, Excel and Word) as well as be able to create, maintain and update files using that software. • Be able to determine the manufacturing process of a new product from the fixture design to the finished product is essential for this position PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: The following education and experience qualifications are highly preferred for the position of CNC Programmer: • 2+ years of experience using NX or other related CAM within the Aerospace manufacturing industry. • 5+ years of experience in operating 5-axis CNC milling machines. REPORTING: • The CNC Programmer reports directly to the Engineering Manager. • The following positions report directly to the CNC Programmer: o None AUTHORITIES : The CNC Programmer is granted the following Authorities: • To exercise the responsibilities, and perform the duties, of this position. This includes full decision-making authority for all responsibilities and duties managed, outlined within the Position Role Sheet for this position. • To delegate this position's duties, as occasionally may be required to meet deadlines. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: The CNC Programmer upholds the following primary responsibilities: • Excellent print reading skills. • Generate accurate CAD/CAM drawings of parts using supplied print or sketch. • Generate and maintain CNC programs using CAD/CAM software for the part manufacturing processes. • Great working knowledge and understanding of machine tooling and proper usage. • Great working knowledge and understanding of inserts and chip breaker function. • Needs to be proficient creating/designing, editing, maintaining Microsoft Excel files. • Needs to have a general understanding and working knowledge of Microsoft word, Excel and Outlook. • Help maintain the Control and the handling of CNC programs on the server. • Monitor, document, and control any changes made to CNC programs through current software. • Have general design concepts of fixture or work holding components. • Needs to be able to read and follow written instructions or procedures. • Troubleshoot machining related issues (tool, manufacturing process, or mechanical). • General and practical knowledge of measuring tools, equipment, and concepts. • Excellent working knowledge of geometric tolerance and dimensioning. • Ability to perform online programming (at a machine control). • Assist and aid the Manufacturing Engineer(s). • Other duties as assigned by the area supervisor. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: The CNC Programmer upholds the following key responsibilities: • Follow department objectives and monitor ongoing progress and performance • Manage attendance, holidays, and time off as appropriate • Meet team performance goals and departmental objectives including KPIs. • Actively participant in team meetings and other team settings • Resilient, optimistic and open to change • Professional collaborative approach with others • Self-motivated and able to work well under pressure • Excellent analytical and problem solving abilities PRINCIPAL DUTIES: In addition to performing the duties of co-workers when necessary, the CNC Programmer performs the following Duties: • Ensure that our plans of action will meet our commitments contractually to our customers. • Learn and use all appropriate modules of our Management Information System (JobBOSS Job Control/ERP Software, Unipoint QA Software, MS-Office's Outlook, Excel, Word, etc.) along with required engineering software in use by the company (CATIA V5, Siemens NX, Solidworks, etc.)
