Description We are offering an exciting opportunity for a Controller to join a reputable non-profit organization, based in northern Colorado. As a Controller, you will be tasked with overseeing the finance, accounting, and administration functions of the organization. This will include handling fund accounting, budgeting, forecasting, audit preparation, compliance, and working with the leadership team across the organization. Responsibilities: Oversee the full fund accounting process, accurately tracking and reporting on contribution receipts and expenditures, and managing both restricted and unrestricted funds. Lead the monthly and year-end closing procedures, including reconciling bank statements and preparing financial reports. Direct the preparation of annual budgets, create financial projections, and implement financial forecasting procedures. Facilitate annual external audits by ensuring all requested documents are prepared and collaborate with external auditors to finalize financial statements and management reports. Ensure all accounting activities and internal audits comply with financial regulations and policies. Serve as a key financial resource within the organization, training the accounting team, and assisting with the implementation of best accounting practices, policies, and procedures. Develop and maintain a system of accounting records, including charts of accounts, and a comprehensive set of financial reports to present accurate and timely financial statements and management reports. Use various accounting software systems to manage and monitor customer accounts and take appropriate action. Handle investment accounts and ensure they align with the organization's financial goals. Oversee the organization's budget processes to ensure financial sustainability and efficiency.Requirements Must possess a minimum of 10 years of experience in a Controller role or similar within the Non-Profit industry. Demonstrable proficiency in Accounting Software Systems. Proven experience in handling all major Accounting Functions. Strong knowledge of Auditing procedures and practices. Familiarity with Budget Processes and ability to manage financial forecasting and risk analysis. Experience with Month End Close procedures. Expertise in managing Investment Accounts. Demonstrable experience in Fund Accounting specific to Non-Profit organizations. Must possess a Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting or a related field. Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Management Accountant (CMA) certification is preferred. Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines under pressure. Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage and motivate a team. Must uphold the highest standards of ethical conduct and integrity.
