Charles Schwab's Wealth Asset Management (WAM) Engineering is part of the Schwab Technology Services (STS) organization which is responsible for the company's use of information technology including all telecommunications, operations and client and business applications.

WAM Engineering is aligned to support the technology needs of Wealth & Asset Management, a group that unites all of Schwab's money management, research, and asset management platforms to help clients manage their wealth.

What you are good at

This is a senior data architect role designing and implementing end to end data integration solutions.

The role will lead our sales data integration efforts as the Senior Data Architect, which includes formulating the sales data strategy, including standards of data quality, the flow of data within the environment, and security of data. This role will facilitate data modeling sessions with business and technical users, identifying and profiling data sources, analyzing the business and technical requirements, and creating data models to meet Sales business needs. This individual must be an experienced, strong data architect and be focused on assessing our environment and requirements to design data integrations in conformance to best practices.

This role will also lead the design of a new data strategy based on a migration to the public cloud for our data sources and our own environment and technology stack.

What you have

This role requires a highly motivated and experienced Data Architect who has designed and implemented cross enterprise data platforms both cloud-based and on-premises. The individual will have pride of ownership reflected through well documented architecture design, the ability to review existing state and offer alternative solutions and a disciplined software development approach. The candidate will be expected to help build a robust data engineering and architecture practice, dedicating time to mentoring and training of data engineers within the team. The individual will need to display thought leadership through understanding the key business objectives and strategically providing data integration solutions to support the Sales data domain within the larger data strategy of the organization.

Qualifications & Experience
  • A university degree from a well-respected academic institution; advanced degrees in Information management, Computer Science, Business Administration and/or other professional certifications are a plus
  • 12+ years of experience in a data engineering / architecture role
  • 5+ years of experience working in an investment management firm
  • Experience participating in Agile Scrum development teams
  • Experience with data modeling of relational and dimensional databases, metadata management, data lineage and data governance
  • Experience with SQL Server, T-SQL; proficiency with advanced SQL concepts, designing ETL and ELT pipelines to support Enterprise Data Warehouses and Data Marts, with a strong understanding of data lake, data fabric and semantic layer design concepts and the Kimball Dimensional Modeling methodology
  • Experience with virtual data platforms like Denodo or similar technologies
  • Deep understanding of data ingestion pipelines and data lineage tracking using Google Cloud Platform products such as Data Catalog, Cloud Pub/Sub, Cloud Dataflow, Cloud Data Fusion, and BigQuery.
  • Understand and develop strategies for data modeling, design, and implementation to meet stated requirements for metadata management, data integration, data marts and Extract Transform Load environments.
  • Experience designing and building large Cloud-ready highly scalable and distributed software.
  • Experience or knowledge of Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery.
  • Strong understanding of modern information security design and best practices
  • Familiar with predictive analysis and data visualization techniques using relevant tools (e.g. Tableau, Python)

Colorado Compensation

Target Total Compensation: 121,000 - 242,000
