Job Duties and Responsibilities: DISH Wireless is seeking a Data Engineer II to join its Regulatory Services team. This role is responsible for engineering our data system by creating data frameworks, architecture processes, and services to support regulatory service team data-intensive role reports to the Head of Regulated Services.

The ideal candidate is flexible to learn and is eager to push data operations forward by supporting the transition and transformation to cloud (AWS) and grow our data insights and capabilities. Experience working with data in a cloud-based environment is highly desired.

In this role, you will:

  • Create data system architecture that ensures stability, scale, and agility to grow system services.
  • Create SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) packages with a clear design and organized form to ensure control data flow elements are consistent across processes and build best practices to avoid deadlock or redundancy in how data is handled.
  • Create store producers to ensure consistency in how Extract/Transform/Load (ETL) processes are performed.
  • Create SQL jobs and orchestrate job schedules to ensure timely sync between sources and destinations.
  • Develop and maintain Python automations for data processing in support of establishing and validating emergency call routing.
  • Understand current Python scripts and work on translating them into SQL.
  • Create best practices for code writing, review, and testing.
  • Conduct incident root cause analysis and define contingency plans.
  • Work closely with business analysts/ technical project managers to act on business requirements by utilizing data and system services.
  • Understand provisioning requirements and maintenance of emergency call routing for DISH's 5G Wireless network.
  • Support testing and validation process for various regulatory programs.
  • Support the migration into an AWS-based data infrastructure.
  • Learn regulatory business processes and gain a deep understanding of their data requirements to design and apply automated optimization solutions.
  • Manage and improve script development processes across the data team.
  • Work closely with the data team to stabilize Proof of Concept (POC) activities to later integrate them into SQL.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders and engineers to provide technical guidance and knowledge of the data team's programs and processes.
  • Support preparation of regulatory agency data reports.
  • Review all regulatory data submissions and filings for accuracy and compliance.

#LI-CG2 Skills, Experience and Requirements: As a successful candidate, you will have:
  • BS or MS in Data Engineering; Demonstrated job experience will be considered in lieu of education.
  • Minimum of three (3) years working experience in data engineering.
  • Advanced knowledge of SQL and SQL Server.
  • Knowledge of Python scripting.
  • Experience working in a cloud-based environment, preferably AWS.
  • Perform data analysis as needed to provide data-driven insights and recommendations to leadership to support successful achievement of company goals or other critical business interests.
  • Experience creating processes and workflows.
  • Experience with data automation.
  • Experience with APIs, collaborative script development, GitLab or GitHub.

The base pay range shown is a guideline. Individual total compensation will vary based on factors such as qualifications, skill level, and competencies; compensation is based on the role's location and is subject to change based on work need to successfully complete a pre-employment screen, which may include a drug test and DMV check. Salary Range: USD $75600.00 - $108000.00 / Year
