Job Description

The

Director of Electronic Health Records oversees the day-to-day support of Salud’s electronic health record, eClinicalWorks(eCW), in both test and production environments.

The Director of Electronic Health Records supports clinic staff by helping resolve issues within the eCW platform, as well as other integrated systems and ensures systems function that allows clinical staff to provide high-quality service to patients and internal customers.

The Director of Electronic Health Records provides expertise in the maintenance, planning, training, implementation, communication, and evaluation of new and existing functionality and ongoing process improvement related to eCW.

Specific Duties

:

  • Serve as theprimary point of contact for all issues and requests relating to eCW
  • Respond to end-user requests for issue resolution
  • Works in conjunction and consults with various departments including Dental, Operations, IT, Revenue Cycle, Training, Pharmacy, and Quality to optimize workflows within eCW and maximize the integrated health care model
  • Upon approval and after successful testing, will implement and if needed, train design and modular changes or additions
  • Manages, coordinates, and tests upgrades and feature implementations of eCW to ensure successful implementation
  • Partners with IT with outside interfaces and other peripherals (lab, immunizations, HIE, etc.) and ensures eCW is configured for the interface
  • Creates and monitors tickets related to eCW through IT as well as eCW
  • Manages eCW user accounts and security settings as well as Provider licenses
  • Attends eCW trainings to stay current
  • Trains Medical Providers
  • Oversees the EBO report writer and assists in the development of reports requested by the Medical Services department
  • The position will require after-hour work and on-call may be required especially during upgrades
  • Understands and follows standard operating procedures around eCW.
  • Participates in various committees that impact eCW operations
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications

    Education

    • Associate’s Degree in Information Systems or two years of equivalent experience
    • Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology or related field preferred

    Experience:

    • Five years of experience with clinical applications or clinical applications support
    • Three years of experience in Community Health Center environment preferred and/or large scale user clinical environments

    Licensure:

    • EHR (eCW) certification preferred

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

    • Minimum 3 years supporting enterprise-class Electronic Health Records system with eCW
    • Strong knowledge of HIPAA rules and regulations
    • Ability to effectively present information to groups and individuals through verbal, written, or video formats
    • Demonstrates self-motivation and ability to work independently
    • Effectively prioritizes multiple tasks
    • Works collectively in a dynamic team environment
    • Strong written and oral communication skills
    • Certification in Healthcare Informatics or related field preferred
    • Familiar with a variety of healthcare concepts, practices, and procedures
    • Computer skills to include Microsoft Windows, Word, and Excel
    • Highly organized and efficient
    • Sensitivity to low-income and ethnic minority communities is a must
