Job Duties and Responsibilities: About this position Have you worked with metadata to tailor customer streaming experiences? Do you want to develop differentiated capabilities for millions of customers? Are you constantly looking for new technologies such as Computer Vision and AI/ML to enable the creation of interactive and tailored streaming experiences? If so, we are looking for an engineering manager to join the Technology & Strategy Group within DISH Technologies, and lead a team of high caliber engineers designing, architecting and developing metadata processing and management solutions. Responsibilities: Primary responsibilities and skills include the following areas:- A strong desire to learn new things and continually improve yourself and those around you with a "can do anything" mentality
- You live to experiment, test, fail fast, and learn as you go, we are not looking for a cookie cutter solution to our complex problems
- Contribute through hands-on technical inputs (can still code, if required and conduct code reviews)
- Contribute in design and architecture decision making for metadata processing and management
- Able to manipulate metadata to create new user experiences
- Able to leverage AI/ML and Computer vision to create interactive streaming features, including video clipping and highlights generation in a hyper-personalized manner
- Able to guide the team to setup metadata ingestion pipelines and conduct data synthesis
- Lead the integration of 3 rd party provider feeds and metadata into Sling and DISH systems
- Enhance the pipeline for content curation, while automating where applicable
- A 4-year college degree in Computer Science / Information Technology, Bachelor of Science preferred, master's degree is preferred
- Superior knowledge of Object Oriented design and patterns
- Proficiency with GoLang (or Python)
- Experience with metadata modeling, ontology in the media/entertainment domain
- Overall understanding of media workflow and content ingest
- Knowledge of Media Asset Management (MAM), 3rd party metadata provider (Gracenote), and metadata packaging functions. OR an interest in learning about metadata and how it can be leveraged, manipulated and tailored to drive user experience and to create new OTT streaming features.
- Prior knowledge of building products/solutions in the media domain
- Familiarity with in-memory database such as Redis
- Experience working with and developing in AWS (including DynamoDB and DAX)
- Experience with Agile methodologies/DevOps environments
- Exceptional communication skills: verbal, written, listening
- Experience with HTTP/REST and writing web services
- Experience with AI/ML to create personalized experiences.
- Understanding of computer vision technology
- Familiarity with a scripting language
