POSITION SUMMARY

The Market Research Manager will be responsible for the oversight and execution of market research initiatives for Alterra Mountain Company with a focus on guest experience, product research, customer preferences and attitudes, markets, competitors, and industry trends. This position will manage sampling, research methodologies, data requests and survey projects that support strategic initiatives and questions. Research studies will occur on a formal and ad-hoc basis and the Market Research Manager will develop standard processes with the objective of supporting business decisions. The Market Research Manager will manage outside research agencies and will also design in-house surveys. This position is expected to provide leadership and guidance on qualitative research, utilize CRM databases, analyze outside data, and develop models to provide guidance to the marketing team.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Manage survey research from the sampling, to survey design, to implementation and delivery of results. Familiar with best practices for survey design and methodologies.
  • Manage CX measurement vendor and project implementation.
  • Manage vendors, contracts and billing for research. Must hold vendors to timelines and ensure that results and deliverables match the project scope.
  • Query customer databases to appropriately sample and understand customers.
  • Synthesize financial data, market research data, and customer data to support strategic decisions. Proactively suggest analysis and research based on business objectives.
  • Develop and support research to define customer behavioral models as relate to brand trajectory, price elasticity of demand, new products, competitive positioning and other market changes. This research may be qualitative or quantitative in nature, ranging from customer surveys, panel research, qualitative research, focus groups and more.
  • Design and implement ad-hoc research and data analysis that answer specific business questions.
  • Create compelling data visualizations, using programs such as Tableau, to report and present analysis on marketing efforts, research and segmentation results. Communicate findings with diverse stakeholder groups.
  • Manage industry data and research, providing quick access to multiple teams of essential and data.
  • Analyze and organize available data across multiple resorts and business units. Inspect, clean, and transform data while maintaining perspective on the relevant business questions.
  • Complete competitive analysis on the industry.
  • Other duties as assigned

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • 5+ years of experience in market research, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Marketing: Knowledge of marketing, sales, and business processes. Knowledge of brand strategies and measurement of brand attributes.
  • CRM Database: Experience using CRM databases to identify key insights, create reports, and analyze customer behavior.
  • Organization: Demonstrate ability to proactively prioritize needs, put first things first, and effectively manages resources and time. Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks. Ability to project manage and prioritize. Ability to manage timelines and deliverables.
  • Analytics: Proven experience providing analysis and insights that had meaningful influence on strategies. Demonstrated success working with large and complex data sets.
  • Communication: Able to communicate effectively in writing and verbally across all levels of the organization. Able to effectively present information to management, employees, and customers.
  • Reasoning Ability:Able to make independent judgments which have considerable impacts on the organization. Able to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Strong sense of curiosity needed.
  • Survey Research:Ability to design and/or guide the creation of survey research. Experience designing and implementing qualitative and quantitative research.
  • Management: Able to lead outside agencies and a variety of internal stakeholders. Project management experience.
  • Leadership: Experience providing and executing on a long term strategy, bringing others along and growing capabilities within the organization.
  • Advanced user with Microsoft Office suite (specifically Excel and PowerPoint).
  • A team player who excels in a fast-paced environment and can operate with limited or general supervision. Able to navigate ambiguity and create new processes as warranted.

Preferred:

  • Experience with customer segmentation.
  • Experience working with survey design and analysis for a business or research firm.
  • Knowledge of ski industry

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field required (marketing, business, business analytics, finance, economics, mathematics).

Preferred:

  • MBA or master’s degree in related field preferred.

The base salary range below represents the low and high end of the Alterra Mtn Co Shared Services Inc. salary range for this position. Actual salaries will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to experience, education, training, location, merit system, quantity or quality of production, responsibilities, and regular and/or necessary travel. The range listed is just one component of Alterra Mtn Co Shared Services Inc.’s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term and long-term incentives and many region-specific benefits.

Denver area base salary range: $85,000 - $128,000 per year
