Job Title: Mid-Level Linux Systems AdministratorWork Location: Boulder, COClearance Required: US Citizen and able to obtain a Public Trust T-4 clearance

We are actively seeking a

System Administrator to join our current team on an active project supporting a National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) National Environmental Satellite, Data, and Information Service (NESDIS) IT Support Services contract. The AOI team provides data center management and consolidation, cloud migration, and associated IT services.

Position Description/Scope of Work:

The Systems Administrator will be responsible for designing, implementing, and monitoring the infrastructure; also, to collaborate with other team members to develop automation strategies and deployment processes. You will become an integral part of a close-knit team, making every problem of the platform a problem of your own, and solving them accordingly. Also innovating to come up with infrastructure improvements.

Responsibilities:
  • Manage and maintain Infrastructure with Ansible codebase. Contribute to ongoing platform within IaC approach.
  • Manage and maintain Virtualization cluster.
  • Oversee platform software releases, system upgrades, evaluates and install patches and resolves software related problems. Perform ongoing performance tuning.
  • Perform daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems and key processes,reviewing system and application logs, and verifying completion of scheduled jobs such as backups.
  • Perform regular vulnerability patching and monitoring.
  • Oversee daily backup operations are performed, ensuring all required file systems and system data are successfully backed up to the appropriate media, recovery tapes or disks are created, and media is recycled and sent off site as necessary.
  • Provide Tier II-III/other support per request from various constituencies. Investigate and troubleshoot issues.
  • Repair and recover from hardware or software failures. Coordinate and communicate with impacted constituencies.
  • Configure/add new services as necessary implement new platform features.
  • Upgrade and configure system software that supports infrastructure applications or Asset Management applications per project or operational needs.
  • Maintain system hardware, including Laptops, servers, Network equipment's swapping parts, managing returns, rebuilding filesystems, escorting third-party maintenance personnel, and coordinating and communicating with impacted constituencies

Required Skills:
  • 3-5 years Linux Systems Administration experience
  • Demonstrated knowledge and working experience in both Linux (RHEL/CentOS 7.x+) and container technology. In addition to Linux having Windows skills is a plus.
  • Experience with cloud infrastructures, AWS or other cloud providers
  • Linux administration in virtualized environments (KVM, RHV-Ovirt)
  • Strong scripting experience. Bash, Python or Go preferred.
  • Experience in configuration management tools such as Ansible, Puppet or Chef
  • Experience with web servers Tomcat, Apache or Nginx. Familiarity with web-based technologies, including but not limited to, reverse proxy servers, SSL certificate configuration.
  • Storage knowledge and experience with filesystems configuration along with Logical Volume Manage (LVM) strong knowledge of NFS and/or Ceph
  • A team player with a track record for meeting deadlines
  • Takes ownership of assignments, working with minimal direct supervision
  • Ability to effectively communicate (verbal and written correspondence) in a professional and courteous manner with technical and non-technical personnel.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational and facilitation skills

Desired Skills:
  • Exposure to Jenkins, Gitlab runners, Grafana, Elasticsearch, Kafka and Icinga

Desired Certification(s):
  • RedHat Certified System Administrator and any Network/Windows and similar Certs are a great plus
  • AWS certifications a plus

Required Education:
  • High School diploma or equivalent required
  • Bachelor's degree, with a technical major, such as engineering or computer science, preferred
