OBGYN Nurse Practitioner (Job ID: 7963)SummaryDenver Health Medical Center is recruiting for two OBGYN Nurse Practitionersto join our women's care team. As a member of the medical staff, works incollaboration with the interdisciplinary team to provide care to pregnantindividuals throughout the childbearing cycle including antepartum andpostpartum care. Provides primary health care services from adolescencethrough menopause including the provision of gynecologic and family planningservices, diagnosis and treatment of illnesses, health promotion,disease prevention, and individualized wellness education and counseling.Supervises and teaches students and residents in the clinical setting. Mayperform administrative support functions as required.Essential Duties and Responsibilities1. Evaluates and monitors health condition of patient in collaboration withthe interdisciplinary team, according to standards of care and currentclinical practice guidelines. Refers to specialty services as needed.2. Assesses the health status of patients by performance of medical recordreview, thorough health history, and physical examination3. Orders and interprets diagnostic tests and provides patient careaccordingly4. Performs gynecologic and obstetrical procedures within scope of expertiseincluding but not limited to provision of long-acting reversiblecontraceptives and limited OB ultrasound5. Prescribes medications including controlled substances, contraceptives,and hormone therapy6. Completes required clinical documentation in an accurate, thorough, andtimely manner7. Supports patient autonomy in decision making through education about healthcondition and treatment options8. Teaches and supervises midwifery, nurse-practitioner, and medicalstudents, and residents in the clinical setting9. Enhances professional growth and development through participation ineducational programs and quality improvement projects and by reviewing currentliterature and updated clinical practice guidelines. May participate inpractice, departmental, or organizational-level workgroups and committees.10. Participates in monthly administrative staff meetings, clinic huddles,and periodic medical staff meetings11. Complies with established departmental policies and procedures, qualityimprovement, safety, environmental and infection control standards12. Promotes positive interpersonal communication with colleagues, staff,patients, and visitors and treats all with courtesy, dignity, empathy,and resp13. Aligns all work-related activities with the mission and values of DenverHealthEducation and Experience1. Master's or Doctoral-prepared graduate of a Nurse Practitioner programaccredited by the Commission on the Collegiate of Nursing Education (CCNE)or the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC)2. 1 year experience in women's care preferred.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities1. Skill in empathic communication, motivational interviewing, andtrauma-informed care2. Ability to evaluate and utilize research to provide high-quality,evidence-based health care3. Ability to maintain situational awareness and respond appropriately toemergency situations in clinical settings4. Ability to promote effective team function through clear and accuratecommunication and mutual support of team membersComputers and Technology1. Computer skills required include fluency in use of Electronic HealthRecords, electronic email and word processing applications, and databaseapplications.Certificates, Licenses and Registration1. Current certification by the American Nurses Credentialing Center or anequivalent body2. Valid license to practice as an Advanced Practice Nurse in the State ofColorado3. Provisional or full prescriptive authority in the State of Colorado4. Drug Enforcement Administration Registration (DEA). (unless exemptionis requested)5. Current BLS certification6.
