The Charter Technical Engineering Center (CTEC) facilities in Englewood, CO oversees the design and architecture of Charter's multi-billion dollar network infrastructure. We investigate, select, develop, and integrate technologies and solutions that meet the needs of the company for short, medium and long term initiatives. This includes the delivery of the technology plan and future architecture for Voice, Video, Data, Optical, Commercial, Cloud, CPE, Network and Access.

JOB SUMMARY Responsible for designing, planning and implementing IP video content security for Charter's Spectrum TV services. This position will assist Charter's transition to Internet delivered content securely, featured cloud based services, highly interactive HTML5, and native UI's across a variety of consumer electronics devices and set top boxes.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Actively and consistently support all efforts to simplify and enhance the customer experience.

Work with cross functional teams to evaluate new content protection strategy/features through Digital Rights Management (DRM) by conducting Proof of Concept (POC) and initial functional testing with a set of client devices in the lab. Document finding, identify next steps and follow up with vendor or cross functional teams as needed to promptly resolve potential issues for on time feature/project delivery. Cross functional teams include Product, Software Engineering, System Integration and Test, technology solution vendors and Video Operations. Create step-by-step, succinct MOP needed to implement new technology/feature into Production.

Work with team members and potential vendors to build lab environment to validate new security technology concepts and features through POC. Tasks include test case creation, execution, documentation of test results along with results analysis. Provide engineering and technology improvement recommendations based on test results.

Evaluate new IP video streaming format standards, identify potential impact to existing DRM implementation, and propose potential solution to mitigate impact through lab validation testing. Technical requirements, architecture design and implementation guide are part of the project delivery.

Evaluate alternative DRM solution that may provide improved content security for vulnerable client devices through POC. Evaluation deliverables should include the benefits and advantages of the alternative DRM solution, technical requirements and architecture changes needed to support the alternative DRM along with implementation guide.

Assist in troubleshooting in the lab and production environments as issues arise. Tasks include learning existing production workflow and video components, work with operation teams and solution vendor to conduct root cause analysis and propose resolution to mitigate issues that are found.

Work with Cybersecurity vendor to examine video piracy and security vulnerability exploits that may negatively impact content protection. This includes analyzing workflow and statistical data when applicable, identifying potential mitigation strategy that may curb the exploit and summarizing discoveries to share with cross functional teams.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONSSkills/Abilities and Knowledge -Knowledgeable in functionality of the different DRM types (Apple, Microsoft and Google)-Understand the different IP video streaming formats (DASH/HLS/HSS) and its relationship with DRM-Familiar with industry standards (i.e. DASH-IF, SCTE, etc.)-High level understanding of IP video workflow from content ingest to delivery onto customer's client device

EducationBachelor's degree or equivalent experience required.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONSSkills/Abilities and Knowledge -Experience with cloud computing (AWS, Azure), container technologies (i.e. Kubernetes), building elastic and scalable system a plus-Experience with web technologies: HTML/Javascript, HTTP, JSON, XML, Web Services/REST API-Knowledge of open-source multimedia projects (x264, x265, and FFMPEG, etc.)-Experience in application and network security -Experience with CHALK, JIRA ticket system-Familiar with SAFe (Scaled Agile Framework)

The pay for this position has a salary range of $107,600.00 to $191,200.00. The actual salary offer will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience and location. Also, certain positions are eligible for additional forms of compensation such as bonuses.
