Research Services Entry Laboratory Science Professional - 30909 University StaffDescriptionUniversity of Colorado Anschutz Medical CampusDepartment: Immunology & MicrobiologyJob Title: Research Services Entry Laboratory Science ProfessionalPosition: #00814174 – Requisition: #30909Job Summary:The Rochford Lab has an opening for an Entry Research Services Professional (RSP). Our research focuses on understanding the role of P. falciparum malaria in human gamma herpesviruses (EBV and KSHV) pathogenesis consequently leading to malignancies. We use both immunological and virological techniques to analyze human samples. As the Entry RSP you will be responsible for running category-2 experiments including molecular biological and immunological experiments; coordinating lab activities with the help of senior members of the Lab; procuring lab supplies; maintaining and updating sample inventory; among others.Key Responsibilities:

Collaborate with and support Principal Investigators (PI) and other stakeholders with laboratory and research functions.

Utilize a variety of laboratory techniques required for research projects.

Perform experiments and tabulate and analyze research.

Support analytical testing process using standard lab support knowledge in the collection and review of conditions, including preserving samples, completing sample preparation, documenting, and communicating results.

Perform pre-analytical, analytical, and post-analytical test process and evaluate results produced.

Pick up, transport, and maintain results, samples, documents, materials, and other items as needed.

Dispose of laboratory materials and samples using well established guidelines and instructions.

Review, complete and process logs, documents, databases, and related materials and information.

Bachelor's degree in biology, molecular biology, chemistry, genetics, or related field.

A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor's degree on a year for year basis.

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.Preferred Qualifications:

Master's degree in biology, molecular biology, chemistry, genetics, or related field.

Prior experience or background within an experimental or wet lab.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Knowledge of basic laboratory techniques including safety procedures and techniques.

Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and orally.

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees at all levels throughout the institution.

Outstanding customer service skills.
