The individual in this role will partner with all project teams where IT capabilities are required and provide thought leadership around data architecture for all customer facing products. As a data architect, you will be contributing to the technical design of our data driven products and will advise management, product management and RD teams on the optimal data reference architecture to fulfill current and future product data needs.A DAY IN THE LIFEConsult with business stakeholders to understand and evaluate data driven productsProvide technical expertise for data specifications and management to balance tradeoffsDesign advanced data platform models for use in multiple commercial products using innovative technology such as artificial intelligence, machine learning and cloud.Ensure data architecture consistency across the various initiatives/projectsCreate solution proposals and present to senior leadership and stakeholdersContinuous alignment with product architects, other data architects, business analysts and stakeholders on chosen data strategy and rationalePerform data Assessments to understand gaps in current data and develop strategy to address gaps. Generate Solution Architecture, Data Model, and ETL specifications to match business outcome requirementsConsult with business and technology development projects to fit systems and desired information outcomes to identify when it is necessary to modify the solution architecture to accommodate data needsEstablish a close relationship with product architects and others in the workgroup to ensure that the business needs are understood and are being met / planned for appropriatelyLead data architecture, development, and design sessions for complex multi-platform applications.Create technical design and architecture documents.Present proposed design solutions to users and management in a timely, comprehensive, and understandable mannerMUST HAVE (Minimum Qualifications)Bachelors degree10+ years of experience with a bachelors degree or 8+ years of experience with an advanced degreeNICE TO HAVE (Preferred Qualifications)Strongly Preferred:o 5+ years of experience performing logical data modellingo Affinity with complex data warehouse systemso Pro-active, innovative, and strong sense of ownershipo Strong communicator, aligns approaches and status with all stakeholderso Partner on all aspects of designing and architecting advanced, database-driven integrated technology solutions including the alignment of conceptual, logical, and physical design and architecture.o Establish a close relationship with product architects and others in the workgroup to ensure that the business needs are understood and are being met / planned for appropriatelyo Manage multiple design, development, and other related tasks concurrentlyo Previous Medtronic experienceExperience with Cloud Data ArchitecturesGood understanding of cloud and edge compute technologiesGood understanding of DevOps and Dual Track Agile development methodologyAbility to build productive and collaborative relationships within stakeholder teams and the Global IT functionStrong business acumen and entrepreneurial spirit leading to the ability to map long-term organizational vision and generate innovate ideas that create business valueExcellent communication and influence managementEmpowered to make smart decisions with a strong sense of urgency to accelerate continuous progressionRelationship Building:o Ability to listen, build rapport, and credibility as a strategic partner vertically within the business unit, as well as with leadership and functional teamsStrategic Thinker:o Ability to map joint organizational vision and long-term thinking, imagination, and idea generationHighly Developed Communication Skills:o Adept and presenting to and building partnerships at all levelso Strong communication skills in writing, speaking, and presentingLeadership:o Ability to lead change using positive and collaborative methodsPartnership:o Ability to influence others through personal rather than positional interactionABOUT MEDTRONICTogether, we can change healthcare worldwide.
