As a core team member on one or more NPD projects, the associate will work closely with the Team to achieve successful new product launches on time and at cost while ensuring that supply chain risks are mitigated and that the project sourcing strategy is aligned with overall company strategy and objectives. Additionally, the associate will work to facilitate early collaboration between suppliers and the Engineering Team to drive down cost and ensure good DFM (Design for Manufacturability), DFP (Design for Procurement), and VAVE (Value Analysis, Value Engineering). Lastly, the associate will utilize data-driven processes to track sourcing focused KPIs (Key Performance Indicators), countermeasuring any misses to targets throughout the life of the project and ensuring a smooth transition of the product to the Manufacturing, Operations, and Sustaining Teams at launch. SCHEDULE: M-F, 40hrs/wk TYPE OF ROLE: Hybrid KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: There are two key areas of responsibility for this role, Strategic and Technical.Strategic Responsibilities:Works closely with Direct Material Procurement Team to develop overall sourcing strategy for program.

Create sourcing plans for NPD programs. Identify suppliers that satisfy program requirements, advocating for the minimization of single/sole source components where appropriate.

Accountability for supplier selection for NPD including alignment with Corporate and DHR commodity strategies, and technical capability of supplier.

Conduct high-level RFQ (Request for Quote) to determine sourcing path.

Provide sourcing support to Engineering including point of escalation for any issues.

Leads/facilitates early supplier engagement with R&D teams in NPD programs including supplier visits.

Ensures early engagement between supplier and R&D on critical or high-cost components/assemblies.

Drives sourcing and negotiation/auction cost-reduction projects for NPD programs. Identify savings opportunities and participate in Kaizens/workshops.

Analyze BOM throughout the process and address risk areas. Supports upkeep of cost model.

Provide spend analytics for program and lead transfer to Global Sourcing.

Defines and tracks Sourcing KPIs.

Supplier risk management and mitigation, tracked and reported on risk register.

Facilitates the transition of the NPD supply chain to Manufacturing/Operations/Sustaining/Service.

Make vs. Buy analyses for NPD programs from a component and/or sub-assembly perspective.

Works cross functionally to identify optimal manufacturing location using data driven process.

Collaborates on supplier agreements needed during NPD projects, taking a leading role in negotiations for contracts, NDAs (Non-Disclosure Agreements), etc. and ensuring favorable terms in line with Procurement strategy.

Technical Responsibilities:Facilitates DFM drawing and design reviews, ensuring supplier capability.

Align projects to correct suppliers from a technical capability standpoint.

Coordinate and participate in Producibility Reviews, ensuring cross functional agreement on requirements and expectations between R&D and supplier.

Work with R&D to determine technical solutions based on understanding of manufacturing methods and/or supplier capability.

Participates in internal design reviews, providing technical support for Engineering on design optimization, DFM, and DFP.

Support sourcing plans for NPD programs.

Liaison between NPD and existing product VAVE and Sourcing Project activity.

Support NPD cost-savings funnel projects (both VAVE and Sourcing projects for NPD) by participating in VAVE workshops and continuous funnel-building activity.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s degree in Materials Management, Business Management, or STEM field.

5-7 years’ experience in strategic sourcing in commodities, preferably for a new product development program.

Technical experience required with the ability to understand engineering concepts.

Skilled in supplier negotiation and contracts.

Demonstrated strategic management of a supply base.

The hourly rate or salary range for this role is $110,000-$127,000. This is the range that we in good faith believe is the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and this range is only applicable for jobs to be performed in Colorado. This range may be modified in the future.
