Steamboat is looking for a shipping & receiving clerk to help coordinate all aspects of shipping & receiving for the ski area. Utilizing USPS, Fedex, UPS and all other carrier agencies to provide efficient distribution of shipped materials to and from the mountain. As well this position will deliver materials throughout all of Steamboat Springs to all ski resort outles.

Detailed job description, including responsibilities, work performed, tools or equipment used, etc.:

  • Pick-up mail from Post Office and deliver to appropriate department and/or individual
  • Weigh and process outgoing mail from each department and the Hotel then deliver to Post Office
  • Receive, log and deliver UPS and Federal Express and all other major carriers
  • Practice price comparison for all outgoing shipments
  • Requisitioning monies for postage meter
  • Oversees and updates monthly intra-departmental shipping expenditures and submits to accounting
  • Maintain Company Mail vehicle; i.e. gas, wash, etc.
  • Assist F&B Warehouse crew in maintaining loading dock area
  • Deliver and pick up packages/envelopes from other businesses

Minimum skills, experience, education and ability required for this job:

  • High School graduate
  • Ability to diplomatically work with individuals at all levels in a professional and confidential manner
  • Must have good written and verbal business communication skills
  • Must be able to operate a personal computer and feel comfortable using information systems
  • Possess computer processing skills and computer problem-solving skills
  • Prompt, accurate and professional judgment in fast-paced environment
  • Strong knowledge of company protocol, operations, and philosophy
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Mathematical skills
  • Ability to work and to deal with various individual styles
  • Must have a valid driver’s license, successfully complete a motor vehicle record check and meet company’s insurability standards
  • Ability to safely operate a motor vehicle, often in hazardous winter road conditions
  • Ability to interact and maintain positive relationships with guests, co-workers and management consistent with SSRC’s Service Excellence standards.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to write legibly for shipping orders
  • Must be able to lift heavy boxes and mail sacks, approx. 30-40 lbs.on a frequent basis

Miscellaneous information:

  • This position is an hourly paid non-exempt and is subject to overtime pay
  • Weekend work as needed

The base hourly pay range below represents the low and high end of the Steamboat Ski & Resort Corporation hourly pay range for this position. Actual pay will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to experience, education, training, location, merit system, quantity or quality of production, responsibilities, and regular and/or necessary travel. The range listed is just one component of Steamboat Ski & Resort Corporation’s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term and long-term incentives and many region-specific benefits.
