Maxar is searching for a Software Development Manager to join our Data Foundations team, based in Westminster, CO. The role can be performed remotely within the United States.

Data Foundations provides services to manage our continuously growing 120PB archive of satellite imagery. In this role your team will be responsible optimizing ingestion of new imagery and augmenting through machine learning, analysis, and combination with supporting data. We seek an experienced manager who is comfortable managing experienced engineers and being a servant leader in a cross-functional team. We expect our managers to be generalists that can dive deep with the engineers to gain insight on how to drive towards the right people + technology solutions. As a vertically integrated satellite and earth intelligence company there is significant opportunity to build a compelling set of accuracy and global reference that is unique to anyone in the industry.

What you'll do day-to-day:

Keep your teams aligned with the business , ensuring they are working on the right things.
Work directly with team-members on design, tech stack choices, and contributions to the open source geospatial software.
Mange and adapt team organizational constructs to deliver on commitments and provide 24/7 production systems support.
Lead the ' ilities ' of your service: availability, scalability, maintainability, reliability, and securability . We focus on SRE-based principles
Guide careers for your direct reports and be comfortable having crucial conversations. (We're proponents of radical candor: https://www.radicalcandor.com/ )
Forecast and manage a data and compute budget for AW S

Minimum Requirements:

Must be a U.S. citizen and be willing and able to obtain U.S. Government security clearance at the Secret level
Bachelor's degree in technology or related field, or equivalent experience
8+ years of related experience
3+ years of software development lead, or management experience
5+ years of software development experience
Experience successfully building and delivering complex software systems
Experience designing, creating, and using RESTful APIs
Experience running a CI/CD team where developers support their code in production in an on-call rotation
Experience working in an Agile environment with Scrum teams

Preferred Qualifications:

Demonstrated experience as a strong leader who can communicate clearly and effectively influence across cross- functional teams.
AWS experience, including: Fargate/ECS, Lambda, API Gateway, S3, SNS, SQS, Aurora, Dynamo
Expertise with application monitoring tools and improving system observability
Development experience with geospatial software (e.g. GDAL/OGR, PostGIS, OGC APIs, ArcGIS, QGIS, GeoServer, OpenLayers, Leaflet, etc)

The compensation range for this position is 109,000 - $181,000 annually, dependent on skills and experience. This position is also eligible for a bonus plan.
