We are a flexible team who can offer the ability to split time between the office and home working as needed.Computershare Technology Services (CTS) provides global technology and infrastructure/support services for existing Computershare proprietary software together with a full range of development services for new products.CTS globally has approximately 1,500 employees and is made up of Service Delivery, Development Centre of Excellence, Digital Centre of Excellence and 6 technology groups aligned to our global business lines.This is a manager role that can truly help drive the business forward from a technical perspective and will provide a good exposure on global collaboration and will support you to build leadership skills for your future career.A role you will loveAs one of our Software Engineering Managers, you will be responsible for mmanaging a team of individual contributor engineers and less experienced engineering managers. Ensure the craftsmanship, security, availability, resilience, and scalability of solutions developed by the teams or third-party providers.You will engage in mentoring and guiding the professional and technical development of more experienced engineers, as well as identify and recommend opportunities for developing product functional and technical strategies for the domains. This will include the development of actionable short and long-term product roadmaps, by partnering with business product managers, lead systems architects, and more experienced engineers.You will also make decisions and resolve issues regarding strategic products of engineering teams to meet business objectives, oversee engineering teams to deliver commitments aligned to strategic product priorities, and will get the opportunity to be involved in many projects, guiding the team with technical queries, and being final point of contact for high priority incident calls.Key Responsibilities will include:- Apply knowledge of standards, policies, best practice and organisational structure so that you can work both independently and collaboratively within your team and with key stakeholders.
- Provide informal guidance and share knowledge with colleagues to enable them to contribute to the team's objectives.
- Ensure the quality of tasks, services and information provided by your team - through the quality of your own work and the support you provide to others - to ensure that your team delivers high-quality, maintainable software which adheres to internal standards and policies.
- Support the evaluation and resolution of technical challenges and blockers to minimise their impact on the team's delivery and/or supported products.
- Identify and support improvements and innovation in technologies/practices within your team that would benefit the business e.g. efficiency in the software development process or improved customer experience.
- 8-10+ years of Software Engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
- 5+ years of people management experience
- 5+ years of experience with responsibility for technology strategy, execution, and application support
- 5+ years of experience with Java application design and development
- 5+ years of experience as a solution architect or tech lead or team lead
- 2+ years of experience with agile transformation
- MS in Computer Science or Equivalent Engineering Degree
- Proven experience architecting and building large scale distributed systems
- Experienced in building product road maps and technology target state architecture
- Experience in providing strategic direction, roadmap and vision to product teams
- Proven experience utilizing SDLC tools such as Git, ADO, Jira, etc
- Experienced in public, private or hybrid cloud migration such as Azure or OpenShift
- Knowledge and understanding of application lifecycle, from design and development to testing, implementation and production support
