Maxar's Central Tech team is seeking a Cloud Architect. Central Tech is the geospatial-content-production and Customer access point for delivering the best geospatial data and analytics on the planet. As a cloud architect, you will support multiple software teams and Senior leadership in the Central Tech organization to enable them to manage cost, stay current on evolving architectures and manage large scale migrations between cloud providers .

The position will be hybrid with the option to work remotely or in Westminster, CO and or Herndon, VA. If fully remote, then rare travel to onsite team building meetings may be required.

What you'll do day-to-day:

  • Become a guru at how Maxar is utilizing AWS
  • Create plans and strategies to get the most out of AWS while reducing cost
  • Create strategies for Multi-cloud initiatives involving Azure and GCP
  • Collaborate across Maxar to understand and document how our Organization ties into the rest of the Maxar AWS enterprise

Skills you'll need
  • Must be a U.S. citizen and be willing and able to obtain U.S. Government security clearance

  • Minimum 3 years of deep expertise in AWS account and cost structures, security best practices
  • Deep experience developing solutions on AWS, as a software engineer or DEVOPs engineer (or similar). Very nuanced understanding of under the hood details.
  • Minimum 3 years experience with diagraming tools such as Visio or Mural
  • Minimum 5 years experience with Big Data

These skills would be a plus

  • An advanced degree that is relevant to this role
  • The ability to go deep technically one minute, and brief executive leadership the next
  • Many years as a software engineer who has implemented big data solutions in the cloud
  • Knowledge of Geospatial data and workflows

The compensation range for a Principal Engineer is $131,000.00 to $219,000.00 annually.This position is also eligible for a bonus plan.

The compensation range for a Fellow Engineer is $154,000.00 to $256,000.00 annually.This position is also eligible for a bonus plan.

Our salary ranges are market-driven and set to allow for flexibility. Individual pay will be competitive based on a candidate's unique set of knowledge, skills, and geographic diversity, with earnings potential commensurate with experience. The range for this position is: $137,000.00 - $229,000.00 annually.

Additionally, this position is incentive eligible with a target based on contribution, company performance, and/or individual results achieved; the specific incentive plan and target amount will be determined based on the role and breadth of contributions.
