Do you want to be a part of our vision?Aimco is seeking a Senior Manager, Accounting, JV Reporting, & Special Projects who will work in the Denver corporate office. Job DescriptionThe Senior Manager, Accounting, JV Reporting, & Special Projects will have varied responsibilities within the accounting and finance departments. The position will assist in preparing separate entity financials and all reporting to JV partners.  This position will also be responsible for specialized accounting and accounting-related project work. This role reports directly to the SVP of Accounting, Finance, and Tax. In this role, the Sr. Manager, Accounting & JV Reporting is responsible for managing all aspects of accounting and analysis for Aimco’s separate entity books and joint ventures (JVs). Other work may include, but not be limited to: (1) assistance with special projects, such as system implementation or other items that arise and (2) overflow specialized accounting work, where this person will act as a utility player that can jump in and provide redundancy when needed.This position is responsible for overseeing the analysis of internally and externally (JV partners) generated financial information and managing the production of periodic and ad-hoc reports required by various internal and external stakeholders to effectively manage the business and meet reporting obligations.  Central roles of this position include managing through the monthly close process with the accounting team, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting processes, ensuring robust documentation is maintained for each joint venture, including significant accounting positions and adjustments in accordance with US GAAP and providing leadership to others throughout the organization on joint venture technical accounting matters.  The Sr. Manager must develop and maintain strong collaborative relationships with departments and individuals both internally and with external joint venture partners’ finance and accounting teams.  They will work with the SVP, Accounting, Finance, and Tax, in building out a financial reporting framework and processes that will execute a process for financial reporting.QualificationsBachelor's degree in accounting or finance. 8-10+ years’ experience. CPA required. Previous REIT experience is highly desirable. Previous real estate accounting experience required.Essential Functions:Responsible for various data gathering, tracking, and record-keeping; financial forecasting, budgeting, and planning; preparing of financial schedules, statements, and reports.Oversees related accounting and financial analyses in one or more financial areas including auditing, budgeting, forecasting and general accounting.Applies advanced accounting concepts, theories, and principles to develop solutions to problems. Adheres to FASB guidelines and GAAP, company policies and procedures, and other regulations in the performance of duties.Sets department and staff goals based on overall department or company goals. May take part in operational planning for the area.Analyzes current/historical activities, results, or complex data. Solve problems complicated by their interpersonal &/or technical complexity, scope, and ambiguity. New or previously unused solutions may be recommended.Provides advice as a subject matter expert in the implementation of a new accounting software system.Additional informationSalary Range: Pay for this role will be commensurate with the experience and skills of the selected candidate.
