Job Summary

Under general supervision, administerssafeandcompetentrespiratorycareasorderedbyaphysician,withemphasisincriticalcareareas.Monitorsmechanicalventilation,administersmedicationsandperformspatientassessment.Understandsramificationsofhemodynamicmonitoring,arterialbloodgasanalysis,andothercomplexphysiologicdata.

Education and Experience

1. Associate degreeinRespiratoryCare.GraduationfromanAMAapprovedSchoolforRegistrationinRespiratoryCare. Bachelor's Degree preferred.

2. Passing score on the NBRC examination for Registered Respiratory Therapist(RRT)at the time of application.

3. Two years of experience as a Respiratory Therapist preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

1. KnowledgeofRespiratoryCarestandardsandguidelinesusedtoperformessentialfunctionsofthejob.

2. Excellent working knowledge of Respiratory Care instruments and equipment.

3. Understand andinstituteadvancedmodesofventilationasorderedbyphysicianorperprotocol.

4. Excellent communicationskillstoestablishandmaintaineffectiveworkingrelationshipswithpatients,hospitalstaffandcoworkers.

5. Skill toproperlyuseventilators,monitoringequipment,oxygen-respiratoryequipmentandotherclinictools.

6. Ability todelivermedicalgases,setupandmaintainthedeviceandensureappropriatehumidificationlevels.

Certificate/License/Registration:

1. Current License to Practice Respiratory Therapy in the State of Colorado.

2. BLS,ACLS,PALS,NRP

3. ACCS, NPS, Preferred
