Maxar is looking for an Application Engineer to join our team in Westminster, CO. In this role, you will join a team of Application Engineers dedicated to creating the best customer experience through developing best practices and solutions for those users as well as maintaining the availability for a suite of online geospatial platforms serving 100+ Petabytes of satellite imagery and thousands of users. To that end, you will use several commercial tools, build custom tools, scripts, and processes to streamline monitoring and resolutions for both external and internal customers. You will have an opportunity to work cross-functionally with other Engineering teams, Customer Support, Product Management, and other teams as a subject matter expert for our applications and services to deliver the best possible experience to our customers.

The ideal candidate will actively work to identify opportunities for improvement both in terms of technical capabilities and soft processes and put those improvements into place.

What you'll do day-to-day (with your colleagues):

• Use several commercial and custom tools for monitoring our web applications and related APIs/services and respond to maintain system availability

• Find opportunities for improvement with our monitoring, processes, and tools and put them into practice

• Take escalations from Tier 1 support teams of customer issues with our applications and services and work to resolve

• Build custom solutions based on customer feedback and use case

Minimum Requirements:

• Must be a U.S. Citizen and be willing and able to obtain a Secret security clearance

• Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Geospatial Information Systems, or related field. 4 years of experience may be substituted for a degree

• Experience supporting and working with API's

• A strong working knowledge of Python programming

• Willing to participate in on-call rotation

Preferred Qualifications :

• Strong critical thinking and troubleshooting skills

• 4+ years experience supporting and working with API's

• A strong interest in discovering and learning new technologies

• An understanding of geospatial concepts

• Prior work experience with monitoring/debug tools ( Site24x7, CloudWatch, Elastic/ELK stack, browser developer tools, Postman, etc.)

• Understanding of server load balancing technologies (F5, EC2, etc.)

• Working knowledge of SQL

• Working knowledge of Linux CLI

• Familiarity with other programming languages (Go, java, javascript, C#, C, etc.)

• Work experience with any of the following geospatial COTS tools (ESRI, ENVI, QGIS, etc.)

• Experience with working with geospatial web services and APIs (OGC Web Services, ESRI REST, etc.)

• Experience with web map APIs (Google Maps, Leaflet, OpenLayers, etc.)

• Experience with map server technologies (GeoServer, MapServer, etc.)

• Experience working in an Agile framework

• Current/active US government security clearance

The compensation range for this position is $83,000 - $138,000 USD annually, dependent on skills and experience.
