Are you ready to go beyond?Pratt & Whitney is seeking a Aircraft Performance Engineer to support our Mission and Vehicle Analysis group.The Mission and Vehicle Analysis (MVA) group at Pratt & Whitney is at the forefront of advancing and optimizing next generation engine capability through joint aircraft and engine performance optimization, as well as engineering support to sales and marketing organizations. Engineers in MVA are looked to for insight into how the aircraft is predicted to perform, and how today’s fielded aircraft are actually flown. With the rapid advancement of next generation military and commercial platforms, Pratt & Whitney is seeking and developing engineering technical leaders with expertise in both aircraft and engine performance to advance the state of the art and add value with these propulsion systems. Join a highly skilled team of engineers leading the industry in aircraft and engine integration for new product and fielded product applications.Key Responsibilities:

Analysis of flight performance with various engine configurations in multi-disciplinary optimization, engine usage evaluation to enable OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer), aftermarket decisions and pricing.

Analysis of military and/or commercial engine applications at various phases of engine development varying from conceptual design to end of service.

Aircraft performance, aerodynamic theory, and engine cycle performance to support a wide range of engineering analyses, simulation development, and applications.

Broad array of analytical methods for flight mechanics, engine cycle simulations, durability methods, statistical fleet forecasting, airline economic evaluation, and extensive databases for world-wide fleet operations.

Development of advanced architecture definition for new products, technical leadership in multi-disciplinary optimization, and leading statistical methods for engineering enabled aftermarket of existing products.

Development of systems analysis assignment and aircraft economics experience to lead large teams that develop world class engines in a competitive marketplace and are foundational to many of the leadership positions within the propulsion and aerospace business, and to operate in a leadership capacity for technical problem resolution and engineering support to marketing and commercial strategies.

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor of Science degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or in a related field and 5+ years of aerospace engineering experience in build-up/design of aircraft, OR

Master of Science degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or in a related field and 3+ years of aerospace engineering experience in build-up/design of aircraft, OR

PhD degree in Aerospace Engineering with research experience in aircraft design or propulsion fields.

U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.

Travel domestic and international up 5%.

Preferred Qualifications:

Working knowledge and practical experience with aircraft design methods.

Experience in thermodynamics, gas dynamics, aerodynamics, statistics, and software design.

Work efficiently in computer programming environments including coding languages in Python and C#.

Proficient in the use, maintenance, and advancement of the MVA toolset including, but not limited to, Pacelab APD.

Professional experience in both engine and aircraft performance.

Strong communication skills (written and oral), problem solving skills, analytical skills, teaming skills, and the ability to work in a highly collaborative environment.
