AVP or VP - Internal Controls/FinanceLocation Darien, CTApply Now (https://phg.tbe.taleo.net/phg03/ats/careers/v2/applyRequisition?org=FFBUSA&cws=42&rid=973)1st Financial Bank USA (1FBUSA), focuses on establishing and maintaining credit card relationships on a nationwide basis to the U.S. college and graduate student market and is currently hiring for a AVP or VP - Internal Controls/Finance.Location: Telecommuting position for CT, FL, GA, NC, NY, or PA residentsJob Overview:The (Assistant) Vice President of Internal Controls/Finance is responsible for leading the Bank’s Internal Controls project. In this role, this person will be coordinating all of the internal efforts to ensure the Bank is in compliance with the requirements under FDICIA. Additionally, this person will be making ongoing contributions toward the continued safety and soundness of the Bank, and proactively identifying opportunities and risks to the Income Statement and Balance Sheet. This position is very detailed and hands-on and not limited to top-level review.Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

Lead the Internal controls project including the whole documentation process regarding each of our FDICIA identified processes (both manual and IT).

Ensure that all people are complying with the responsibilities associated with Internal Controls under FDICIA.

Make positive and proactive contributions toward bank safety and soundness.

Ensure that accounting methods are within GAAP standards.

Support the use of financial reporting systems and other tools for efficient reporting, analysis and budgeting.

Proactively identify opportunities and risks to the Income Statement and Balance Sheet; utilize financial tools and department knowledge to identify revenue and expense improvements.

Create and maintain audit controls, effective training and reconciling systems to ensure integrity of financial data especially as they relate to Internal Controls.Monitor for GAAP and regulatory required changes impacting the Bank’s accounting and reporting. Develop a detailed understanding required to document and assist department personnel in implementing the changes and required controls.

Prepare detailed reporting for board of directors with respect to Internal Controls.

Provide availability to finance team members for business and professional guidance.

Supervisory Responsibilities: Initially none, but likely will have someone underneath them in the Internal Controls area but is responsible for ensuring people comply with Internal Controls.Qualifications:Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting/Finance, CPA required.Experience: Minimum 5 years of accounting experience in a public accounting firm and/or a bank, and experience with Internal Controls.Language/Reasoning/Mathematical or other specific skills: Strong mathematical and computer skills required.
