Role: Business Process EngineerLocation: New Haven, CTType: Full Time OverviewBusiness Process Engineer is responsible for analyzing business and technical processes to formulate and develop new and modified business processes based on evolving and advanced digital capabilities of business systems. The Business Process Engineer must have an understanding of the business, functional, and technical aspects of both the business processes and the systems used within the portfolio they support including integration points and impacts to other business units/systems. Responsibilities • Evaluate, reinvent, and streamline business processes to optimize processes to use new digital capabilities anticipating requirements, uncovering areas for improvement, and eliciting requirements for change.• Lead ongoing reviews of business processes and develop optimization strategies.• Represent business process needs with technology teams to define requirements and business cases for technology developments.• Coordinate with business and technology teams, ascertaining system requirements, such as program functions, output requirements, input data acquisition, and system techniques and controls.• Leads and facilitate cross-functional, collaborative teams that will work on enterprise-wide process design and reengineering initiatives.• Conduct work sessions/interviews with subject matter experts in the Line of Business (LOB).• Define, redefine and/or translate business documentation into business process workflows.• Develop, publish, and maintain a functional capability model of the business; map key processes and• information flows; define entities, both internal and external, that contribute to or impact the• business; ultimately, creates a framework for understanding how the business delivers products and services (i.e., value) to its customers.• Map information flows, chart value streams, diagram processes, and models system dynamics to facilitate common understanding across teams.• Analyze processes to identify areas of improvement, including conducting statistical analysis.• Recommend prioritization of business process improvement efforts.• Utilize broad knowledge of systems, processes, and solutions to support business problem analysis and determine the best methodology to resolve defects or issues.• Mentor other IT staff in the area of business processes modeling.• On-Call and/or after-hours work required.Essential Competencies Professionalism/Personal Accountability, Collaboration and Teamwork, Communication, Flexible and Adapts to Change, Service to Customers and ClientsSkill Qualifications Required:• Demonstrated knowledge of statistics, LEAN Six Sigma, data analysis, and industry tools (SIPOC, VOC, Process Mapping, Process Requirements), and process engineering methodologies• Demonstrated communication and presentation skills, including the ability to communicate effectively at all levels within an organization, including senior leadership• Demonstrated ability to build consensus among and between business users and IT• Demonstrated ability to multi-task and establish priorities• Demonstrated ability to provide guidance to and effectively share knowledge with less experienced team members• Advanced skills in Visio or other process modeling tools (BPMN/Case Management)required• Technical understanding of the digital platform, cloud applications, web services, server-side components and APIs• Data analysis skills including ability to perform intermediate to advanced SQL queries• Competency in Microsoft applications including Word, PowerPoint and Outlook. Advanced skill in• Excel including formulas, pivot tables, vlookup, and macros. • Assist project manager(s), scrum master(s), business analyst(s), business systems analyst(s), and test analyst(s) with duties as necessary• Preferred:• Experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau a plus• Education and Experience QualificationsRequired:• BS/BA degree• 5-7 or more years of Business Process Improvement and business process design• Six Sigma Black Belt certification
