Compensation OverviewThe annual base salary range provided for this position is a nationwide market range and represents a broad range of salaries for this role across the country. The actual salary for this position will be determined by a number of factors, including the scope, complexity and location of the role; the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate; and other conditions of employment. As part of our comprehensive compensation and benefits program, employees are also eligible for performance-based cash incentive awards.

What Is the Opportunity?Travelers Data Engineering and Data scientists leverage the various platforms that use Extract Transform and Load (ETL) capabilities to create data analytics solutions for business. The ETL Data engineer II will support the data engineers and data scientists to leverage the power of ETL platforms like Abinitio and TALEND to do their work. The position requires a strong understanding of ETL concepts including file processing concepts, Batch job design principles, change data capture mechanisms, platform support, file formats, security, data lineage and automation etc. that can help in growing and transforming our analytics landscape. An ideal candidate will have experience working with TALEND modules including Data Integration, Data Quality, ESB and Big Data Frameworks and ABintio platforms including GDE>Co-Operating System, Express> IT, Data Quality Environment (DQE)

The work arrangement for this position is based on location.What Will You Do?
  • Engage with key projects to understand the requirements, propose solutions, best practices and provide support during implementations.
  • Resolve issues raised by users and provide necessary support for training.
  • Stay current with industry trends, making recommendations as needed to help the organization innovate and excel.
  • Managing various environments and enabling new capabilities in accordance with company security guidelines.
  • Implement ETL solutions in AWS cloud as IaaS solution or PaaS solution.
  • Working with Talend Data Mapper, Microservices, CICD workflow and complex transformation components to create solution accelerators (reusable components and frameworks) which can be leveraged across different projects, POCs, Demos using Talend Technology
  • Adopt the agile ways of working and influence behavioral change as it relates to SAFe framework.
  • Work collaboratively with other partner teams at Travelers to learn new solutions and processes and apply them for business solutions.
  • Help with rollout of currency and resiliency solutions.
  • Perform data and systems analysis, assessment and resolution for defects and incidents.
  • Test data movement, transformation code, and data components.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
What Will Our Ideal Candidate Have?
  • Bachelor's Degree in STEM related field or equivalent
  • Eight years of related experience
  • Highly proficient use of tools, techniques, and manipulation including Cloud platforms, programming languages, and a full understanding of modern software engineering practices.
  • The ability to deliver work at a steady, predictable pace to achieve commitments, deliver complete solutions but release them in small batches, and identify and negotiate important tradeoffs.
  • Demonstrated track record of domain expertise including understanding technical concepts necessary and industry trends, and possess in-depth knowledge of immediate systems worked on and some knowledge of adjacent systems.
  • Strong problem solver who ensures systems are built with longevity and creates innovate ways to resolve issues.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work collaborate well with team members and business partners.
  • Ability to lead team members and help create a safe environment for others to learn and grow as engineers. and a proven track record of self-motivation in identifying opportunities and tracking team efforts.

What is a Must Have?
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent training with data tools, techniques, and manipulation.
  • Four years of data engineering or equivalent experience.
