Data Scientist

Our client, a telecommunications company located in Stamford, CT is in need of a Data Scientist on a 3 to 6 month contract with high likelihood of extension and/or conversion to FTE for the right candidate. The Data Scientist will work onsite daily, building predictive and statistical models to improve credit policy and minimize credit losses by identifying possible defaulters. The Data Scientist will also create predictive models for such initiatives as: acquisition/risk management, customer retention, and customer segmentation – and will be responsible for generating the quantitative analysis necessary for data-driven business recommendations. This individual must have strong data manipulation and interpretation skills, and have the business acumen to be able to quantitatively assess business problems.

• Minimum 5 years’ experience with hands-on statistical model building and validation
• Strong knowledge of core computer science principals including algorithms, data structures, and design methodologies
• Extremely strong and demonstrable SQL skills, with a minimum of 5 years of experience using SQL to pull and analyze large and complex data sets
• Minimum 5 years’ experience analyzing data with either Python or SAS
• Strong quantitative analysis skills

• College Degree (highly preferred)
• Finance or Telecom industry experience
