Compensation OverviewThe annual base salary range provided for this position is a nationwide market range and represents a broad range of salaries for this role across the country. The actual salary for this position will be determined by a number of factors, including the scope, complexity and location of the role; the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate; and other conditions of employment. As part of our comprehensive compensation and benefits program, employees are also eligible for performance-based cash incentive awards.

What Is the Opportunity?Support the Security Engineering program and security initiatives in the cloud at Travelers. Manage the cryptography team in driving standards for our data encryption, secrets management, and TLS certificate requirements throughout the enterprise. Lead automation in infrastructure as code, instance provisioning, certificate deployments/renews, and general data harvesting from multiple systems for security analysis. Manage the daily operations and support of HashiCorp Vault, Thales Enterprise Vault, Venafi, Certificate Manager, and Wiz.io. Ideal candidate will bring vulnerability data analysis and reporting skills, programming/development in Python and/or PowerShell, and a solid understanding of Cloud security. Must be self-motivated, energetic, able to multi-task, adaptable to change, and able to plan/coordinate while adjusting priorities as necessary. Advocates the use of technology to develop and/or redesign of technology solutions that enhance the business ability to do business and protects Company and Client assets consistent with legal and Company policy requirements. Responsible for all aspects of human resource management of staff.

  • Understands and has input to the budget process, and shares responsibility for cost-effective expense control of assigned projects.
  • Manages team with responsibilities to support and maintain complex security processes, controls or products.
  • Manages team with responsibilities to plan, analyze, configure, test, document and implement new or upgrades to complex security processes, controls or products as directed.
  • May directly manage operational support and maintenance of Security related processes, controls or products.
  • May directly manage the configuration, testing, documentation and implementation of upgrades to security processes, controls or products as directed.
  • Support enterprise cloud environments in accordance with company security guidelines.
  • Propose/evaluate/recommend purchases and/or licensed software products to identify and address security exposures.
  • Work with and lead various architect and engineering teams to implement security controls.
  • Participate/lead Security and enterprise projects as assigned.
  • Participate/lead in strategic planning/roadmap creation for team.
  • Represents team and/or Cybersecurity area at design and new technology meetings.
  • Provides human resources management, including coaching, performance management, team development and growth, and workforce planning.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
What Will Our Ideal Candidate Have?
  • Bachelor's Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) discipline preferred.
  • Ten years minimum of relevant experience with Cybersecurity practices, processes, and Cybersecurity event investigation/resolution preferred.
  • Three years of experience as a technical lead preferred.
  • Prior experience managing others preferred.
  • Broad knowledge of all IT related technologies with subject matter expertise in IT Security related technology and business exposures impacting organizational vitality preferred.

  • Proficient use of automation and provisioning tools, techniques, and manipulation including, Cloud platforms (AWS or GoogleCloud), programming languages (Python, PowerShell, Terraform, Puppet, Ansible), and an understanding of security engineering practices.
  • Experience with some of the following tools & platforms (or similar): AWS services, SQL, Jenkins, Urban Code Deploy, GitHub, OpenSearch (Elasticsearch & Kibana), HashiCorp Vault, Microsoft Certificate Manager, Venafi, etc.

What is a Must Have?
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Five years of experience in Computer Science or a related field required.
  • One year of experience as a technical lead required.
