Compensation OverviewThe annual base salary range provided for this position is a nationwide market range and represents a broad range of salaries for this role across the country. The actual salary for this position will be determined by a number of factors, including the scope, complexity and location of the role; the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate; and other conditions of employment. As part of our comprehensive compensation and benefits program, employees are also eligible for performance-based cash incentive awards.

What Is the Opportunity?This position is responsible for leading the ICS governance, risk, and compliance framework. This includes efforts associated with policies, standards, audit, compliance, and continuous, automated control adherence. This role is responsible for designing, implementing, monitoring and adjusting strategies to ensure compliance with applicable policies and standards. Additionally, this role is responsible for raising concerns and protecting company exposure on compliance related matters. This role may manage employees.

  • Establish and standardize framework and operating model to advance governance & control adherence capabilities across ICS
  • Control adherence planning, testing, validation, and reporting
  • External Certification Validation Planning & Coordination
  • Partner with TRP to develop and execute on strategy for policy updates opportunities to advance our maturity through automation, process optimization and leveraging strategic technologies
  • Serve as the enterprise and/or business group contact with state or federal regulatory agencies in partnership with the business and other internal constituents; engage on a broad range of topics and inquiries, including, but not limited to: market conduct exams, regulatory audits or investigations, data calls, and company licensing.
  • When appropriate, coordinate responses with other business groups and/or corporate Compliance.
  • Will design, monitor and negotiate corrective actions and potential penalties.
  • Direct other team members relative to approach and strategy during regulatory activities.
  • Review, assess and influence responses and materials from business partners to ensure information is responsive to the request and appropriate.
  • Establish reporting objectives for staff or team members relative to management reporting.
  • Measure and monitor compliance to internal controls and regulatory compliance.
  • Provide direction to staff and/or business clients to ensure effective implementation.
  • Oversee proactive audits of regulatory content implementation.
  • Review new or revised laws, regulations, bulletins and regulatory publications applicable to Travelers business. Assign these items to the appropriate line of business so that proper action can be taken.
  • With legal assistance, work with business areas to understand and communicate the impact of new or revised laws, regulations, bulletins and regulatory publications and implement appropriate changes or controls in response if required.
  • Advise, Consult, Train on Regulatory Matters/General Compliance Issues
  • Direct research and analysis on complex regulatory issues and collaborate with business areas to provide consultation and guidance on compliance, licensing, and regulatory issues regarding the development of new and existing products, workflows and strategies. Determine potential impact on other products and/or states.
  • Design, execute, and/or support compliance awareness training for the business.
  • Identify need and direct the development of compliance procedures and internal protocols.
  • Develop strategy and direct work relating to the identification of regulatory compliance or control/workflow gaps through various proactive risk-based compliance techniques. Provide direction in the development of recommendations and/or corrective action plans and monitor for completeness.
  • Oversee development and analysis of competitor research, data and industry websites and participate in industry events to identify state or subject matter trends. Proactively assess specific compliance attributes that are the subject of regulatory criticism for competitors.
  • Support the development of product strategy and filings by conducting complex competitive analysis and research.
  • Develop and maintain understanding of state and/or federal regulatory climate. Communicate relevant market regulatory activity to influence regulatory response and business strategy.
  • Vendor & Third Party Regulatory Oversight
  • Manage day to day compliance vendor relationships.
  • Direct staff who monitor performance of regulatory vendors and third-parties to ensure accuracy and adherence to regulatory requirements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

What is a Must Have?
  • Minimum of 7 years of relevant business and/or regulatory experience required.
