Our client seeks a healthcare claims data analyst to provide insight and analyses of healthcare claims, clinical, and financial data to inform and evaluate policy under the direction of clients Health Information Technology Officer (HITO) and data team lead. This is a three-month full-time consulting opportunity with the possibility of extensions.

DUTIES OF HEALTHCARE CLAIMS DATA ANALYSTThe successful candidate will support the HITO and data team lead, with developing, implementing and updating the data use strategy to advance the clients strategic goals by performing claims, clinical and financial data analyses and visualizations to support policy; creating data extracts and public access datasets; and developing related programming codes and scripts. The successful candidate will have at least five years of experience developing statistical and advanced data analyses and supporting health information technology infrastructure activities. The successful candidate will also be knowledgeable about and experience in commercial, state, and federal government health care plans and programs, particularly in Connecticut.

RESPONSIBILITIESResponsibilities of the successful applicant include but are not limited to:· developing and performing claims, clinical and financial data analyses to support regulatory and policy-making objectives;· creating web-based consumer friendly data dashboards, storybooks and visualizations; authoring data workbooks and briefs to inform and support policy;· creating duly-authorized data release extracts and public access datasets;· develop programming codes and scripts for data analytics accessible to other OHS analysts; and initiatives that advance the strategic goals of the agency.· Support the clients activities to develop goals and strategies to advance the agency’s mission.· Support the HITO and the clients activities to develop goals and strategies to advance the agency’s mission.· Assist in the oversight of statutory and ad hoc committees, and commissions focused on health data and IT matters.· Assist the client to develop uniform health information and data standards.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience analyzing large health care claims, clinical and financial datasets to support policy or decision making.
  • Experience using statistical and computer programming tools, such as SPSS, SAS, Python, R or SQL for data analyses
  • Strong data and statistical analytics skills.
  • Advance data analytics and visualization abilities utilizing software tools, such as Tableau, Power BI, and/or Advanced Excel, to create dashboards, data visualizations, briefs, databooks, and policy impact analyses.
  • Strong understanding of commercial, state, and federal government health care plans or programs
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and public speaking skills.
