We are seeking an energetic and collaborative Sr. Infrastructure Manager who will assist the Assistant Vice President of Engineering in overseeing a hosting and compute infrastructure group within Information Services. This group is responsible for on premise and cloud systems engineering and supports our operational support department, including resource monitoring and reporting, the development of specialized solutions, coordination of system software or environment issues with other ITS organizations, work within multiple computing environments and where necessary the integration between disparate platforms. Seasoned and experienced manager who leads organizations and projects that are complex in nature and/or of higher strategic importance to the Selective organization, and may have a large number of direct reports. Experience with IT Service Management (ITIL and ITSM) with responsibility leading our ITSM practice to the next level. Responsible for managing and evangelization of IT Service Management and its related processes: Incident management, Problem Management, Configuration Management, Change Management, and Knowledge Management.Responsibilities:

  • Assists the Assistant Vice President of ITS Engineering in the management and direction setting for the infrastructure groups including setting priorities, coordinating, and the reporting of group activities. The Senior Infrastructure Manager is responsible for the daily activities of the members of the hosting and compute engineering team as well as the ITSM team.
  • Facilitates the development of infrastructure systems which are designed to provide services in a timely and efficient manner at the lowest possible cost and highest level of availability to ITS and the customer.
  • In conjunction with the Architecture Group 1) establish and enforce standards to which the infrastructure engineers must adhere, regardless of platform, to provide an enterprise-wide set of standards and development processes, and 2) evaluate and recommend state-of-the-art development and automation tools for use across multiple environments.
  • Responsible and accountable for project delivery including status reporting for the ITPMO or EPMO.
  • Responsible for ensuring appropriate metrics are being monitored and trended, thresholds have been established, alerting solutions deployed and, periodic status reports provided to stakeholders for all critical systems within their specific area of responsibility.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of processes that improve efficiency, enhance productivity, Improve KPI’s and drive customer satisfaction.
  • Manage our enterprise level license agreements with our preferred partners
  • Identify potential service level problems before they occur and implement or communicate solutions.
  • Responsible and accountable for the ITS budget for the area, along with the contractual relationships with the service providers that are leveraged.
  • Performs performance evaluations for direct reports
  • Trains, supervises, assigns projects to, evaluates and is responsible for hiring of staff to maintain optimum performance of job duties.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of processes that improve efficiency and enhance productivity.
  • May need to assist in the evaluation of distributed software issues, policies and procedures including standardization, purchasing, evaluations, and training. Recognize and identify potential areas where existing policies and procedures require change or where new ones need to be developed.
Qualifications:
  • Knowledge of current industry systems and solutions, techniques, virtual and physical compute and hosting environments capabilities of a large-scale computing.
  • Ability to plan and control projects (includes, but is not limited to, large, cross-discipline infrastructure and cloud projects.)
  • Ability to understand and clearly relate to other members of the organization, technical manuals, software specifications, virtual and physical hardware principals of engineering and operations, and general methods of support methodologies and techniques.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in dealing with internal and external customers and suppliers.
  • Successfully accomplished (but not limited to) the duties listed in the preceding level.
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field preferred. Commensurate work and/or military experience will be considered.
  • 4-6 years of management experience in infrastructure and application management methodologies including budget forecasting
  • Vendor Management and contract negotiations.
  • Experience managing Incident, Problem, Change Management and Capacity Management
  • ITIL experience a strong plus
  • Strong Leadership skills and the ability to mentor and build teams.
  • Strong Client focus and the ability to communicate and collaborate across all levels of the organization
  • Experience working with key enterprise computing and cloud service providers.
  • Experienced in Infrastructure as a service (IaaS) experience, familiar with other Cloud technology, such as Platform as a Service (PaaS).
  • Ability to work well with people from many different disciplines with varying degrees of technical experience.
