Compensation OverviewThe annual base salary range provided for this position is a nationwide market range and represents a broad range of salaries for this role across the country. The actual salary for this position will be determined by a number of factors, including the scope, complexity and location of the role; the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate; and other conditions of employment. As part of our comprehensive compensation and benefits program, employees are also eligible for performance-based cash incentive awards.

What Is the Opportunity?The Manager, Strategic Initiatives primary responsibility is to provide consulting and analytic support to the business leaders in the development and execution of major projects and initiatives to enable achievement of the business plan.

This position, as part of the Tech & Ops Strategic Portfolio Management Office (SPMO), will partner with various organizations across Travelers as part of a small, dynamic team. Successful candidates will be able to manage, connect, and analyze data, find trends and patterns (effective story telling with connected insights), and design effective data visualizations that concisely convey business trends and patterns with maximum efficiency. This role does not manage direct reports.What Will You Do?
  • Deliver current-state monthly status reporting. Partner with data owners across the enterprise to ensure common definitions, meaningful commentary, and coordinated and timely data collection.
  • Participate in strategy development, monitoring, and reporting.
  • Perform research and current state analysis: define challenges and pain points.
  • Ensure data integrity and reasonability.
  • Rationalize & optimize existing reporting routines. Recognize & identify opportunities for efficiencies and continuous improvement and make recommendations for streamlining to leadership.
  • Understand current data sources, data flow, and data management tools. Remain abreast of future solutions and associated data, analytics, and reporting capabilities.
  • Perform moderately complex strategic analysis, business analysis and cost/benefit analysis.
  • Support the transformation of the business strategy into tactical plans for execution.
  • Provide facts and analysis to assist the leadership team in solving complex problems.
  • Assists in building the storylines and presentations to communicate current & future state, gap analysis, and recommendations.
  • Provide support to senior team members for execution of various planning and prioritization initiatives.
  • May facilitate business meetings with the leadership team, and/or assist in preparing agendas and content for meetings.
  • Respond to requests for time-sensitive strategic information and analysis.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Demonstrated understanding of Agile and Waterfall methodologies,
  • Strong communication skills; verbal, written and platform skills.
  • Adept at relationship-building, maintaining effective partnerships, and influencing without formal authority.
  • Advanced PowerPoint and Excel skills.
  • Knowledge of financial analysis.
  • Proficient in the Objectives and Key Results (OKR) framework.
  • Experience with data visualization tools (i.e. Qlik, Tableau, MicroStrategy, etc.).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Detail oriented, self-directed, and accountable.
  • Project management skills.
  • Knowledge of property casualty insurance.
  • Strong understanding of insurance industry and market dynamics.
  • MBA preferred.

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • 5 years business experience.
