We currently have an exciting 6+ month, long term contract opportunity as a Mechanical Designer for a top fortune 500 company based in Bloomfield CT.Title: Mechanical Designer (CREO)Duration: 6+ monthsLocation: Bloomfield CTEssential Duties and Responsibilities:

Responsible for Aftertreatment component, subsystem, and system level designs for Tier 4 - Aftertreatment Packaging (VPI).

Create 3-D models and 2-D prints for components, subsystems, and systems utilizing Pro Engineer. Lead brainstorming sessions and D/L/P Phase design reviews.

Complete drawing quality reviews, classification of characteristics, and DVA's for assigned components/subsystems. Responsible for interaction with suppliers as required to produce models/designs/prints for components/subsystems.

Responsible for developing and executing print release plans with offsite design and drafting resources.

Interface with marketing, purchasing, manufacturing, suppliers, and development partners using concurrent engineering methodologies as required for optimization of designs per VPI team goals.

Document intellectual property that is generated as part of the design process.

Qualifications:

Machine and system design experience. (Mechanical engineering)

Creo software experience.

Metal cutting process equipment design experience.

Must be proficient in Pro Engineer Wildfire v4 (Creating 3-D Models and 2-D Prints, surfacing, model exchange)

Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Project)

Must have a basic understanding of Fluid and Thermal Dynamics

Must have a basic understanding of Applied Mechanics. Must demonstrate ability to develop creative production viable design concepts to complex engineering problems

Must demonstrate an ability to anticipate problems, develop a range of solutions, often using an interdisciplinary approach, and selects the most appropriate solution using data-based analysis.

Proficiency in PDM systems is preferred User level understanding of Dimensional Variation Analysis is preferred User level understanding of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing is preferred (ASME Y14.5M)

User level knowledge of Six Sigma tools is preferred (DVA, Pugh Selection Matrix, C&E, QFD, Capability Analysis, etc.)

Working level familiarity with quality tools FMEA, and DFMA is preferred. 7-step problem solving skills are preferred

Strong oral and written technical communication skills are required

Ability to work with people at various levels in the organization is required

Ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams is required

Demonstrated success in implementing change is required. Ability to manage multiple tasks is required

Ideal Candidate: Must have strong CREO expertise as this role requires the candidate to check emails, timelines, and designs using the CREO Software. To be successful in this role, a mechanical engineer degree is preferred along with 2 years of experience or 5 years of experience if the candidate does not have a degree.

Education / Experience:

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education/training, 5 years relevant experience required.
