We have an excellent opportunity for a talented Customer Technical Services, Hot Section Engineer to be based in East Hartford, CT.A position is available in the PW1100G-JM / GTF Advantage Customer Technical Services (CTS) group for a Hot Section Customer Service Engineer. The PW1100G / GTF Advantage CTS Engineer will work directly with airline customers, Field Support Representatives (FSRs), and Maintenance/Repair/Overhaul (MRO) facilities in support of hot section related technical data issues, field retrofits, and proactive engine manual maturation. This assignment offers interesting and exciting insight into technical issues related to field service and maintenance operations.Key Responsibilities:
Initiate technical data development via Engineering Authorization (EA) documents for EMM, EM, and CIR manuals including engine, module, subassembly, and piece part level inspections, assembly, and disassembly procedures, in support of Airbus A320Neo PW1100G series engines (Base and GTF Advantage program). These EAs provide the Instructions for Continued Airworthiness (ICA) required by the regulatory authority as part of the engine PART 33 certification.
Lead activities with the following organizations to ensure the clear, accurate and timely development of manual updates, discretionary acceptance, and one-time acceptance EAs: CTRP, DARO, FMP Service Programs, MRO facilities, Standard Practices (SPOP), Component Integrated Product Team (CIPT), various Engineering disciplines, Aftermarket Operations (AMOE) groups, and FAA Designated Engineering Representatives (ODAs) in support of:
Technical concerns on the flight line resulting in Aircraft on Ground (AOG) situations.- MRO facility work-stop prevention/resolution requiring expedited review of defect findings beyond serviceable limits and assembly/disassembly issues.- Proactively improving overall technical data maturity based on fleet experience.
Support hot section Class I Engineering Changes (ECs) – Coordinate with CIPT, Design, CM, EDSI, and aftermarket organizations throughout entire process to formulate fleet retrofit plan to ensure that customers maintain reliable and cost-effective operations, generate Service Bulletin (SB) source data, and ensure accurate Technical Data Package (TDP) content for part reoperation and module part progression and reidentification procedures.
Coordinate with technical publications (MDE) and provide direction for all technical publication's issues.
Create Special Instructions (SIs) for engine or operator specific field and MRO procedures.
Coordinate Customer Part Return (CPR) shipments and investigations on distressed or event related hardware.
Coordinate outsourcing activities regarding EA creation and engineering database (Teamcenter) processing.
Coordinate resolution on production Quality Notifications (QNs)
This job requires flexibility and adaptability to changing requirements and ability to successfully multitask across several types of activities at once in a dynamic environment. This job also requires a strong teamwork mentality.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree and 5+ years of relevant experience, or
An Advanced Degree in a related field and 3+ years of relevant experience
US Citizen or US Person due to government contracts
Preferred Qualifications:
Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering degree is desired.
Requires advanced knowledge of work area typically obtained through advanced education combined with experience.
Practical to substantial knowledge of RTX projects, programs, or systems with the ability to make enhancements and leverage in daily work.
