Position Objective

The Senior Software Engineer (Backend) position is responsible for maintaining, enhancing, and growing applications developed by Konica Minolta's Solutions Engineering Center (SEC). As a member of a small team, the successful candidate will be able to play an important role in the evolution of key Konica Minolta Software Solutions such as the Konica Minolta MarketPlace, Dispatcher Phoenix ScanTrip Cloud, and others while working with the latest technologies.

Essential Job Functions

Qualified candidates should have experience working with the latest versions of JavaScript (ES2015+), AWS Lambda functions, object-oriented PHP, and relational database design and maintenance. In addition to a strong technical background, the ideal candidate should show the ability to think critically, gather information, and problem solve in a team environment.   • Work in a small development team to complete assigned tasks by the specified deadline while following modern best practices
  • Create specification documents for new features
  • Design, code, and deploy new Lambda functions written in Node.js using the Serverless framework
  • Manage synchronization of data between the primary relational database and the DynamoDB tables utilized by Lambda functions
  • Analyze, diagnose, and implement fixes for reported backend issues
  • Design and implement new APIs used internally and by third-party systems
  • Perform maintenance tasks on the primary relational database, such as performance tuning, query optimization, and backup configuration
  • Design database schemas required to implement new features

Competencies (Knowledge, Skills and Abilities)

  • Personal or Professional experience with Docker
  • Personal or Professional experience in Python and Go
  • Proficient with various web browsers (Chrome, Firefox, Edge, Safari)
  • Experience developing for multiple browsers and devices
  • Open source code you are proud of

Experience, Educational Reqts and Certifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related degree concentration & 10+ years of proven experience as a backend developer
  • 5+ years of proven experience working on large scale relational databases, specifically Microsoft SQL Server or PostgreSQL
  • Expert-level knowledge in modern JavaScript (ES2015+), Node.js, and object-oriented PHP (version 7)
  • Expert-level knowledge of SQL, including stored procedures, functions, triggers, views, constraints, and optimization techniques
  • Experience with Git or similar distributed version control systems
  • Experience with AWS services, especially Lambda and DynamoDB
  • Proficient on Linux/Unix operating systems from a terminal
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Self-motivating and self-learning
