Come soar with us!The Mission Systems Summer Engineering Project Program is our Elite Summer Program that has been around since 1995. This program aligns projects from various directorates that support research & partnerships on campus. During the summer each project is aligned with a technical mentor & a defined project plan & milestone. Projects that are chosen for SEPP must be clearly relevant to business needs and introduce students to disciplined engineering rigor and challenges. The project must foster teamwork, diversity of thought and experience. Each project will have a min of 2 students and no more than 3. Mentors commit quality of time and provide coaching and oversight.This is an onsite position based out of Windsor Locks, CT; may be eligible for relocation.Primary Responsibilities:

Work on Head-Up Display (HUD) integration to the spacesuit, providing astronauts with key information without obstructing their field of view

Develop gesture and voice commands to enable an astronaut to navigate through menus, switching between information panels, and requesting specific data

Progress an augmented reality support system that incorporates AR capabilities to overlay virtual objects, annotations, and instructions anchored directly to the space station components or lunar surface features

Basic Qualifications:

Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and student must be pursuing a Bachelor's or advanced degree in an applicable discipline.

U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access the information under this program/contract

Preferred Qualifications:

Software programming skills and experience

Minimum GPA of 3.5 of above

Students should be at junior or senior status by summer 2024
