Position Description: CGI is seeking a Sr. Data Engineer with a proven technical expertise to join its Healthcare Practice. The selected candidate will support Agile Application Development technologies and capabilities in the areas of software development, integration, and test of software applications and infrastructure.
Candidate must pursue modern software engineering practices (Continuous Integration, Specification by Example, Behavior / Test Driven Development - BDD, TDD) and respective tools, to become a part of a dynamic team located in Bloomfield, CT or Lafayette LA! The candidate will have a good foundation with Spark, Python, SQL, Databricks / Glue, parquet, avro, kafka, AWS and ETL. Should be exposed to a broad range of technologies across all layers of architecture. Your future duties and responsibilities: This Engineer will be a key contributor to our Digital practice and will have the below responsibilities:Work with product owners to understand desired application capabilities and testing scenarios.Continuously improve software engineering practicesWork within and across Agile teams to design, develop, test, implement, and support technical solutions across a full stack of development tools and technologies.Write and execute unit tests.Candidate would develop applications in AWS - data and analytics technologies including but not limited to Glue, EMR, Lambda, Step Functions, CloudTrail, CloudWatch, SNS, SQS, S3, VPC, EC2, RDS, IAM.Candidate would need to do development using application development by lifecycles, & continuous integration/deployment practices.Working to integrate open-source components into data-analytic solutions.Working with vendors to enhance tool capabilities to meet enterprise needs.Willingness to continuously learn & share learnings with others.Design and develop solutions following established frameworks, application development standards and quality processes in projects.Assess the impacts on technical design because of the changes in functional requirements.Will work within a fast-paced Agile DevOps team contributing and collaborating with the scrum team on a daily basis.Participate in all phases of Agile methodology (planning, grooming, coding sprint items).Actively contribute to software development strategy and product roadmap specific to application development.Drive solution design thought leadership, for a customer -centric perspective.Ability to understand and translate business requirements into meaningful end to end solutions. Lead team in collaborative development of prototypes for demonstration of concepts Understand functional specifications and use case designs.Determine user requirement feasibility, supports solution design, project planning, establishes priorities and monitor's progress.Implements technical changes to improve the team's effectiveness.Plan out system enhancement implementation roadmap.Resolve conflicting priority among projects and ad-hoc requests.Coordinate with team resources to integrate project with other applications and releases and ensure appropriate skillset alignment and staffing.Participate in and growing strategic partner relationships to support growing demands on the delivery organization.Guide development resources through migration to Agile development methodologiesRequired qualifications to be successful in this role: 10+ years of proven software development experience developing enterprise solutions.6+ years of Data Engineering experience.Enterprise level implementation and hands on experience in - Spark (PySpark preferred, Dataframe, Filters, UDF, Partition), SQL, PythonHands-On implementation knowledge in - Databricks / Glue / Equivalent - Enterprise Scale data pipeline platformExpertise in JSON, binary format transforms (parquet, avro), Streaming sources (kafka/kinesis), ETL, SQL - complex joins, grouping, etc.Data Pipeline design skillsKnowledge on Cloud Data Engineering - AWS, S3, and other AWS servicesKnowledge on Data Engineering Design, Best Practices, Resiliency, Failover, etc.Ability to scale up on the good to have skills through learnings on the job and from the architecture quorum.Thinks critically about work to guarantee business functionality. Understands and considers business goals into their technical decisions.Can break down large initiatives into incrementally implementable deliverables.Able to work across teams to tackle complex issues.Strong analytical and problem-solving skillsPreferred qualifications:• Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science or a related field Primary Skills: Spark (PySpark preferred, Dataframe, Filters, UDF, Partition), SQL, Python, Databricks / Glue Secondary Skills: Cloud Data Engineering (AWS)CGI is required by law in some jurisdictions to include a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. The determination of this range includes various factors not limited to: skill set level; experience and training; and licensure and certifications. CGI typically does not hire individuals at or near the top of the range for their role. Compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case.
