The Firm-wide Financial Control organization closely examines the general ledger, operating systems and infrastructure controls across the entire lifecycle of the business to ensure the firm's financial information is accurately depicted for reporting and regulation purposes. This financial information is used by external analysts to assess the firm's financial position; by management to make sound financial decisions; by investors to make informed decisions; and by regulators to supervise and examine the firm appropriately.Job Summary:The most common functions and activities owned by Firmwide Financial Control include but are not limited to the following: financial analysis, financial consolidation, reporting, balance sheet reconciliation/certification/substantiation, general ledger reconciliation reporting & governance, inter-entity control and governance, suspense analysis and clearing, manual accounting/bookings to the general ledger and operating systems, and execution of the month end financial close process.The Financial Accounting and Reporting Associate will be required to work closely with the line of business controllers, Legal Entity Controllers and other key business partners.Job Responsibilities:Primary Responsibilities of an Associate will include, but are not limited to:
General Ledger Attestation Reporting & Governance
Responsible for ensuring the accuracy and validity of line of business general ledger accounts; including adherence to the firmwide General Ledger Attestation (GLA) standards
Ensure adherence to P&L and Balance Sheet controls owned by Financial Control; including identifying and implementing opportunities for efficiency
Analyze, communicate and resolves material variances between the general ledger and upstream systems; as defined by line of business
Understand business operations in a short span of time with minimal information
Perform variance analysis and research, produce metrics and related reporting to review with senior managers with a clear understanding of the issues and path to resolution.
Move key initiatives to improve efficiencies within the operating model and streamline processes by working with technology on applications such as Alteryx, etc.
Partner w/ technology and project management teams to identify, provide requirements, and prioritize business enhancements for the Firm's General Ledger Attestation application
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business
Knowledge of GAAP accounting standards
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Strong analytical skills
Exceptional organization and problem-solving skills
Basic understanding of General ledger; prior exposure to relevant function an added advantage
Basic accounting and finance skills preferred
Basic knowledge of financial products and services
Ability to build and maintain partnerships within the various product aligned businesses and across other corporate financial and accounting groups
Experience with financial reporting systems such as Business Objects
Familiar with industry standards and regulations
Knowledge of financial products and services
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills:
Prior work experience of 4+ years
Knowledge of SAP accounting system preferred
Strong team player with the ability to coordinate & establish strong connects across global teams
Some management experience preferred+ Fluency in both written and spoken English
Able to critically challenge all processes, with the goal of identifying control issues and improving the control environment on an ongoing basis
