DEADLINE: June 30, 2025 or until position is filled
WHO WE ARE
Construction Trades Workforce Initiative (CTWI), is the nonprofit partner of the Alameda, Contra Costa and Napa/Solano Building Trades Councils. Founded in 2018, CTWI works to advance economic and social justice for underrepresented populations interested in entering family sustaining, union construction careers by strengthening workforce programs, policies and partnerships. We bridge the gap between organized labor and key community stakeholders through coalition building, pre-apprenticeship development and high road policy initiatives, all aligned around our goal of building the next generation of diverse, local and skilled workers.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
There is a high demand for new workers to join the union construction trades, including electricians, plumbers, laborers, and more. To help meet this need, CTWI creates, supports, and strengthens Multi-Craft Core Curriculum (MC3) pre-apprenticeship programs in high schools, adult and juvenile justice facilities, and community-based organizations throughout our service area. The MC3 is a union-endorsed, nationally recognized curriculum that introduces participants to the building trades and equips them with the foundational knowledge and skills needed for success in the industry.
We are currently seeking an Academic Tutor to support our Raising the Bar MC3 pre-apprenticeship program. This program serves adults and young adults who are preparing to enter union construction careers. The Tutor will work closely with the program instructor to reinforce academic content, assist with program activities particularly construction mathematics, and provide individualized support to help participants succeed in the program.
We are seeking a reliable and supportive Academic Tutor to assist students enrolled in our pre-apprenticeship program. The Tutor will work closely with the program Instructor and CTWI staff to provide individualized academic support, reinforce key concepts from the Multi-Craft Core Curriculum (MC3). The Tutor will also receive professional development on the MC3 curriculum, the union construction industry, and apprenticeship pathways, and will communicate regularly with CTWI regarding student needs, progress, and questions.
