The E-Rate (Schools and Libraries) program is seeking a detail-oriented problem solver to fill the position of

Data Analyst. In this role, you will work as part of a team of data analysts reporting to the Director of Analytics and Reporting. You will be responsible for various data-related needs of the program, including ad-hoc and recurrent reporting, data visualization and dashboard development, data source design and maintenance, and strategic data analytics to identify trends and issues within the program. In addition, you will help support USAC’s Open Data platform for the E-Rate program.

Working in a creative and fast-paced environment, the

Data Analyst will analyze large sets of program data to identify opportunities to improve the efficiency, integrity, and stakeholder experience of Universal Service program participants. Responsibilities include the following:
  • Analyze programmatic data to reveal patterns and issues affecting operations within the E-Rate program.
  • Build Tableau dashboards and tools to visualize data and automate reporting.
  • Design, build, and maintain data sources for Tableau and Socrata Open Data Sets.
  • Develop and run recurrent and ad-hoc reports using scripting languages such as SQL, R, or Python.
  • Perform quality assurance and user acceptance testing of data sources, dashboards and tools, and reports as necessary.
  • Support leadership with data-related tasks and projects as needed.
  • Review and respond to public inquires for USAC’s Open Data platform.
  • Other specific duties as assigned.
The successful candidate will excel at operating in a diverse and fluid environment, and will be crucial for the success of the

Schools & Libraries program.
  • You possess a Bachelor’s degree in a related field or a data analytics certification from an accredited institution.
  • You have experience developing dashboards in Tableau or other data visualization software.
  • You have experience working with databases using SQL and programming languages R or Python for data analysis.
  • You have experience presenting analysis and results in plain English for a non-technical audience using data visualizations (e.g., charts, tables, and graphs) on various software platforms.
  • You have excellent written and verbal communication skills and are naturally curious and inquisitive.
  • You are interested in continuously improving our work and learning about new data analytics tools and methods.
Preferred Qualifications - background in Data Analytics, Economics, Statistics, or Mathematics.
