Our community is a tight knit group of remarkable individuals interested in intellectual inquiry and making a difference in the world.RequirementsThe Grant Staff Accountant at Sponsored Projects Financial Operations SPFO/ OCFO is responsible for analyzing financial data and working closely with key stakeholders to determine proper accounting treatment in accordance with U.S. generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and Grantor Requirements from pre-award through post-award. The Grant Staff Account performs various reconciliations of sponsored projects to ensure data accuracy and compliance. The Grant Staff Accountant is also responsible for assigned cost centers, billings on awards, account setup, closeout, and efficient maintenance of sponsored projects. The incumbent assists with payroll accounting adjustments journal as needed. Under limited direction, they research and interpret applicable regulations, guidelines, and standards, providing expert advice and oversight to faculty and staff in the administration for sponsored projects. Maintaining expert professional knowledge regarding all responsibilities, areas of duties include but are not limited to:

Grant accounting and grant management.

General Ledger and Account Reconciliation.

Financial Reporting.

System and Process Improvement.

Audit and Compliance.

Work InteractionsThe Grant Staff Accountant reports directly to the Senior Director, Sponsored Projects Financial Operations. This position will work daily with SPFO Accounting and Reporting Analysts, Principal Investigators, Grant Managers, Department Administrators, Office of Joint Research Administration ( JORA) staff, GMS Core Team, Federal agencies, other government organizations, and private sponsors. Requirements and Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance required

3-5 Years of Accounting experience

Demonstrates a solid knowledge of financial statements and relationships, GAAP, and grant accounting practices and procedures

Understand the federal regulations governing grant accounting, such as the Uniform Guidance

Ability to analyze and evaluate data and draw meaningful conclusions

Possesses excellent communication skills with the ability to work effectively in a team environment

Strong organizational and planning skills with the ability to manage time and adhere to deadlines

Self-starter with the ability to effectively follow difficult issues to resolution

Ability to accomplish goals, deadline driven mindset

Demonstrates a high degree of professionalism

Exhibits a desire to learn

Preferred Requirements and Qualifications

Knowledge of Workday

Candidate of Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Research Administrator (CRA) preferred

University/ non for profit work experience
