We are seeking an experienced, creative, and nurturing Kindergarten teacher to lead a small, private homeschool co-op for 3–4 children in a home-based setting. This is a full-time, in-person role (Monday–Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.)
The ideal candidate will design and implement a comprehensive kindergarten curriculum that builds strong foundations in:
Early literacy (phonics, reading comprehension, handwriting)
Mathematics (number sense, problem-solving, basic operations)
Science (hands-on exploration, nature, basic experiments)
Social studies (community, world awareness, geography)
Social-emotional learning (cooperation, communication, emotional regulation)
Creative expression (art, music, imaginative play)
Physical activity (outdoor play, motor skill development)
We are especially looking for someone who brings a strong background or enthusiasm for math and science, and who can foster curiosity through engaging, age-appropriate instruction and exploratory learning.
The learning environment is calm, positive, and child-centered, with significant time for play, outdoor learning, and creativity. At least one child in the group has high verbal ability and a diagnosis of autism (Level 1), so experience with neurodivergent learners and differentiated instruction is highly valued.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree or higher (early childhood education, education, child development, or related field preferred)
Experience teaching or tutoring at the kindergarten level
Comfort designing and adapting a custom curriculum
Background working with diverse learners, including children with developmental differences
Positive, patient, and collaborative communication style with both children and parents
Reliable transportation to Rockville/Silver Spring area
Compensation:
Competitive and negotiable based on experience
Paid planning time and school breaks can be discussed
Opportunity to shape a unique, supportive learning environment from the ground up
If you are a dedicated educator excited about fostering a joyful and rigorous early learning experience in a small, hands-on setting, we’d love to hear from you.
To apply, please send your resume and a short cover letter describing your teaching philosophy and experience. Thank you!
