Job Summary/Company:

Sparks Group has partnered with a national scientific association to find a

Network Infrastructure Engineer. This is a contract role with a hybrid work schedule (2 days/week onsite). The Engineer is responsible for maintaining the hardware, network monitoring tools, network-related services, and AWS/Google Cloud Platform cloud services.

Full vaccination against COVID-19 is required for this position.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the planning, design, administration, testing, support, and maintenance of the network
  • Efficiently troubleshoot/resolve network-related issues and end-user issues/requests
  • Collaborate with ISPs to maintain reliable internet connectivity/performance
  • Administer various network devices and services (e.g., routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, VPN, DNS/DHCP)
  • Provide performance and status reports
  • Collaborate with colleagues to meet goals, improve processes, and practices

Qualifications/Background Profile:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • 3 years of experience with 2+ years of hands-on network infrastructure experience
  • Demonstrated experience with Cisco switches, routers, and wireless connectivity
  • Knowledge of routing protocols and basic network design/operation
  • Experience with Linux and/or Windows
  • Excellent troubleshooting and research skills
  • Ability to deploy, configure, and troubleshoot Cisco access-layer switches
  • Solid understanding of L1-L4 network layers
