Operations Team Lead - Outdoor Ice Rink

The Operations Team Lead is responsible for all aspects of facility and equipment maintenance at Canal Park Ice Rink, a seasonal outdoor ice rink located in the Navy Yard area of Washington, DC. This is a seasonal (December through February), hourly position that requires working outside in all types of weather. Pay rate is $21 to $25 per hour, based on experience, 25 to 40 hours per week.

Training will be provided as needed. Training hours are paid at $17.95 per hour.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities include:

Ice maintenance, including resurfacing, edging, patching and monitoring

Complete ice resurfacing/flooding log after every ice cut

Equipment maintenance, including Olympia ice resurfacer and edger

Change Olympia propane tanks and blade as needed

Facilities maintenance, including cleaning dasher boards and glass, and light janitorial duties in the rink area, including restrooms

Monitoring refrigeration equipment and logging readings at set intervals

Supervise rink staff, assigning tasks, observing performance and offering feedback/direction as needed

Requirements:

Must be at least 18 years old (21+ preferred)

Must have a valid driver's license

Must be willing and able to work outside in cold weather

Must be able to consistently lift and carry up to 50 pounds

Must sign a drug-free workplace agreement and agree to random drug screening

Must be able to work a flexible schedule, to include evenings (3pm to 10pm), weekends and holidays (as needed)

Ice rink experience (especially ice resurfacing) preferred, but not required
